Thanks, John Cox, for noticing my Dave Stevens pages!

It just dawned on me that three program covers I put up that Dave Stevens did for me were for plays that were infused with magicians. Peter DePaula, Larry Wilson's original Flying Cavetti Brothers, Kent Weishaus and Elisha Shapiro, Tony Giorgio, and I might mention Bob Hays, who directed, and myself (as Laertes) were in Hamlet's Last Act. Orsino and the Love Goddess was all magic--a Thin Sawing, a Modern Cabinet, and an Asrah in that one. Disguises written by and starring Glenn Falkenstein and Frances Willard was a magic romp.
Dave did some lovely work for those covers.

I also put up some pages about Shel Dorf, who was instrumental in my putting together the lecture that won me Magic Castle Lecturer of the Year.

My pleasure, Pat. I was always a big fan of Dave's work. Even have a signed Rocketeer lito hanging over my desk that I got in the '80s. But I never knew about his connection to Houdini or you until I saw his HH drawing you published in Houdini Unlocked. We also shared another close mutual friend. I met Dave a few time at conventions, but never really got to know him personally.

Those program covers are terrific. And, as you know, I love those pics from the set of The Great Houdini.

Dave Stevens' work has always been hanging on a wall or as a computer desktop around my workspace. I loved his lines.

It's great to see a magic connection that I knew nothing of previously. Very cool.

I just added another Stevens page and a review of "Disguises" with some photos of The photographer who shot stills for that play, Rory Flynn. On one of Dave's first forays into Hollywood, during his San Diego days, he asked me to take him to the Magic Shop.
In the eighties, Dave, I, and others used to pop in to "the Body Shop" to see Lance Burton on Monday nights--and see whatever else was to be seen.
Many trips to the Magic Castle over the years.
I have paid a bit of a tribute to Rory Flynn on the "Disguises" page since she shot some great photos, as a favor to me, and I have seen those photos reproduced, uncredited, about a thousand times and I just wanted to give credit where credit is overdue.

An original charcoal sketch of Houdini by Dave Stevens -- what a wonderful thing to have. Hope you have that framed up.
