Richard

A friend of mine opened his new shop in Ann Arbor Michigan about a month ago.

Ann Arbor Magic Shop
255 E. Liberty
Suite 231
Ann Arbor

(Beneath Afternoon Delight Restaurant)

734 222 9000

He called last night on his way to Colon for the Abbott's get together. Extremely well stocked. Lot's of treasures in books and period magic. Plus the latest of everything.

GO

Wonderful! I have been without a local B&M magic shop for too long. Would have been nice if the article had listed the shop's address, but I'll find it.

Thanks!

Here ya go, J-Mac

1050 North Hancock St.
Philadelphia, PA 19123

The owner seems cool and replies to email--hours are a lot better than many B & M stores (except Denny! :) )

Thanks. I looked it up and found it quickly. Just thought it odd to write such a nice article about it and omit the address.

The last B&M shop in Philly I frequented regularly was Jack Chanin's "Studio" back in the '70s. Anyone remember that place?

Thanks!

Jim

I do; it was the first time I was in a "real" magic shop - 1965 - scared the crap out of me. Chanin was only interested in how much money I had on me. No browsing. Sold me a used svengali deck. Gave me the door. Not a nice man at all. After that, it was Vic Lawston through the mail, and Kanter's (when I could get to downtown Phila).

Ha! He had mellowed a bit by the mid-to-late 70s. Actually I dont believe he was around much after that. He had another fellow in there too but his name escapes me. I spent a few lunch hours there.

In the interest of full disclosure, I neglected to add that I was 11 years old at the time. The cranky old bastard was probably thinking only to get rid of a pesky kid.
