Thanks Joe,

We were actually gonna call it MagicCraic, Craic is the Irish word for fun and frivolity and is pronounced crack.

In the end we settled on Shenanigans as we felt international people might raise an eyebrow when the word MagicCraic was spoken lol.

Good call!

"Shenanigans" was also the name of my one-man parlor show that played for over 2 years in Atlanta (Buckhead). It's a word I don't see often, so it caught my attention!

I know I am biased but I think it is a great name for a show/convention. After we had settled on it a radio show here by the same name was launched.

Hopefully we might get a spot on sad show lol.

Newly designed website (including blog) is now live for Shenanigans.

Also added to the line up of presenters is jeremy Le Poidevin of Practical Magic and we have more names to announce.

Please check it out at www.irishmagicconvention.com

Brendan

PS May I take the chance to thank Richard for allowing me, and others who run small conventions, to post details here. It can often be the extra butt or two on seats (that boards like this bring in) that make the difference in a financially viable convention. On behalf of our little doo, thanks Richard.

A favour please.

One of our local club members Seamus Hanratty will donate 5,000 to the Shenanigans convention fund if he wins the linked-to story telling competition below. The other 5,000 winnings will be donated to charity. And by the way, it really is a very very funny story and well worth a watch.

http://162.61.232.179/Index.aspx?vtid=48#video

If you could take the time to click the link and vote it would be most appreciated. If you have multiple email addresses you can vote more then once.

Shenanigans is run by a handful of people on behalf of a local society in Dublin as a break even venture so any help we get really is so welcome.

Thanks in advance to those of you who take the time.

Pinching myself as I am typing this but we have managed to add Paul Wilson to the line up. Paul joins David Williamson, Keith Barry, Peter Samelson, Jay Scott Berry, Paul Gordon, Jeremy Le Poidevin and a host of local talent for what promises to be a superb shindig.

For those not familiar with Irish conventions they typically average 100 registrants and are famed for fun and frivolity. Or as we Irish call it "crac". Pronounced crack, like the drug, but you won't need drugs at Shenanigans. There's gonna be too much of a buzz anyway.

Come join us.

Don't want to bump this thread without good reason, not least as the event is over but thought some of you would get a chuckle from this video.

It stars David Williamson and was shot at Shenanigans. Nuff said.
