2011 :: Year of the Rabbit

Postby Magic Newswire » January 4th, 2011, 9:45 am

Well, on the Chinese calendar, 2011 is the year of the rabbit. That must be a good sign for magicians, right?

Yesterday, I posted the last podcast from the Magic Newswire for 2010.

In addition to our usual end of year retrospective, we talked a bit about 2011 and had a lot fun doing so.

I was joined by all of the co-hosts of This Week in Magic including Chase Goforth, Cameon Ramsay, David Kaye & Scott Wells. In addition, we toss in a few minutes with Mac King, Johnny Thompson, Pamela Hayes and Jonathan Pendragon before heading off to chat with our friends Dan Sperry, Rudy Coby Justin Robert Young, Andrew Mayne and Joe Monti as a part of the iTricks 2010 office party! Thanks for making us all a part of your magic life over the course of the last year and we look forward to bringing you more in 2011! Now get out there and start pulling some Hares!

Dodd,

Get your information on the zodiac correct.
It is still the year of the tiger until February 3rd.

Don't rush the two week lunar celebration...
People haven't goofed up the Gregorian calendar yet.

Also the Rabbit year is also known at the Cat year in
some Asian Cultures...

That is why I am a catty rabbit.

Is it bad Karma for me to think that rabbit is yummy when surrounded by potatoes and carrots with a touch of mild curry?

Come on Mai Ling... I am just a Gaijin after alll (And before you correct that .. I know that is Japanese ;-)

I know .. I know... Got your Tweet about this too. Just sounds wrong to this barbarian to say 90% of this year is the year of the rabbit... etc...

I still prefer the Mayan Calendar anyway. Oh.. but that ends in 2012~ OH NO!

And.. Dustin.. don't forget Hossenfeffer!

Dodd, I believe the term you're looking for is guailo (or, further north, gueilo).

I will always defer to Max on anything related to Japanese culture. That will teach me to rely on Clavell to teach me a foreign language. ;-)

Dustin, In Asia they eat anything...
So I wouldn't worry about it be wrong.
No different than hassenpepper .
Although I got an image of bugs bunny for some reason.

Dodd, I got your @reply and it is strange to say
90% of the year is rabbit but it will be rabbit
from Februrary 3rd until January 23rd.

So technically its the year of the rabbit for
most of 2011 and part of 2012 then after the
23rd we celebrate the Dragon.

can't have people setting off fireworks soo soon again.

Yes.. Mai-Ling... I do understand the technicality.. What I was referring to was that 90% of 2011 on the Gregorian Calendar will also fall within the Year of the Rabbit.
