Re: December Issue of Genii Cover and Table of Contents Now Online
It always amazes me how much great magic can be crammed into a single issue, and I think its worth mentioning that there are 17 (17!) tricks this month from cover-subject Presto, Jay Sankey, J.K. Hartman, Max Maven, David Britland, Jamy Ian Swiss, and more. Seven-freakin-teen!!!

Re: December Issue of Genii Cover and Table of Contents Now Online
I am so glad that Presto is being featured in Genii. I first saw the late magician at Hubert's Flea Museum on 42nd St in New York City, where I would hang out after going to college in the 1960s and get a ginger beer and hot dog at Nathan's (I had no money). He performed a fabulous Rising Card among other tricks at a Magic on Manhattan one-day convention.
Peresto, whose name was Earl Johnson, was one of the performers on a Monday Night Magic 'Salute to Legendary Magicians' which also featured Prof. Bobby Baxter and Jackie Flosso.
Jamie Swiss credits Presto with much of his early knowledge of magic, as I'm sure he discusses in the article.
He was a true original, a one-of-a-kind master of magic, but is probably unknown to today's magicians under 50.
Thanks to Jamy for penning the piece and to Richard for publishing it. I anxiousy await its arrival over here in England. It's very nice to see a cover piece on an influential but largely unknwon magician, as an adjunct to the latest up-and-comers.

While we are all distracted with the fun debate over in the TSA thread, I thought that I'd take a moment to say "Well Done Sir!" to Richard for the fantastic issue of Genii that he delivered with Presto on the cover. Another great issue that I am thrilled to have! May Genii have yet another great year in 2011!

My Genii arrived yesterday in Minot, N.D. The Presto cover and story are great. If you want to learn more about Presto, you can listen to some people who knew Presto personally. At Magic News Wire, there is the Chris Capehart interview and the Dorothy Dietrich & Dick Brooks interview. They talk about Presto and they give a lot of personal stories and good information about him.

Dorothy Dietrich & Dick Brooks interview:

Also, Chris Capehart talks about what he learned from Presto on his DVD Kiddin Around.
Genii just keeps on getting better and better. I dont how you do it Richard, but Im glad you do it every month :)

The many imaged Presto slide through the mail slot here in West Philadelphia, Pa
early this afternoon. I met Presto in Kanter's Magic Shop about 50 years ago.We left the shop together and as we headed for the train station to go our separate ways,
one of the things he told me was that he used Franklin half dollars for all his coin work because they were silent and more smooth handling than any of the other halves he'd worked with through the years. From the Pro to the Amateur, I became a
Franklin half dollar user.

Earl, thankyou so much for that lovely detail. I mistakenly wrote Walking Liberty halves in the article.
(And thankyou for the magnificent illustrations for my trick, "The Flowering"!
