David Pogue

Postby Magic Newswire » September 12th, 2010, 7:07 pm

Today I posted a conversation with the New York Times technology columnist David Pogue. In addition to his technology column for the NYT and his weekly appearances on CNBC, David has best selling books in print selling more than over 3 million copies including "Magic For Dummies". on this episode of the Spirit of Magic Podcast, David & I discuss his interest in magic and where it came from; how that developed into and interest in technology; how magic and technology work together today, and what the future holds for both magically focused periodicals and books! We cover many of the topics discussed in various areas of these forums and look forward to your feedback on our chat which you can listen to here: http://bit.ly/ceQxmZ

I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with David and would love to do more of these with people that love magic, but who are better recognized for their pursuits outside of magic. Any suggestions?

I've not yet listened to the interview, but will say "Thanks" in advance, Dodd, for this interview. What a wonderful idea; David is a quirky guy who is equally brilliant, we Apple product users (I'm on an iMac at the moment) owe him much for penning the famous "Missing ___ Manual" series, for Mac's and other technological products sold without adequate printed information. David generally mentions his love of magic in all of his works, I think; at least he has in those I've read.

This is a genuinely outstanding service you're providing to the magic community; my sincerest thanks, and please do indeed "keep up the good work!"

"...people that love magic, but who are better recognized for their pursuits outside of magic."

I'd love to hear from Carl Kasell, who until recently read the news on NPR's "Morning Edition" and is now the judge on "Wait Wait - Don't Tell Me!"

I knew that President George H.W. Bush was a magic enthusiast - as Vice President, he would have a Secret Service agent visit Al Cohen's shop to buy a new trick now and then... but Necromancer has George W. Bush on his list. Is that true? Is GWB also a magician?

Al Cohen told me that Bush (senior) bought things more along the lines of jokes rather than tricks.
George W. Bush is said to have liked practical jokes.

If anyone wants to help me set up an interview with either of the former presidents, I am happy to oblige!
