Magician needed (pro bono) in S.F. on June 19 for a prom for teens with cancer

Postby Jeffrey Cowan » June 12th, 2009, 7:00 pm

A law school classmate has asked if I might be able to find a magician to donate an hour of time to do strolling/close up magic at a prom for teenagers with cancer. The details of the event are below, and here is a link to the web site page that discusses the event: http://shiri.org/83112/index.html

I wish I could be there to do it. Will pass this on to a friend in the area.

Jeff, if you don't find anyone online, give Misdirections Magic Shop a call. Joe Pon is tied into the local community of magicians, he should be able to help you out.

Hi Jeff,
I'm out of the SF area and can give you a really reasonable rate for non-profit events.

Dan Chan has secretly acquired a priceless three century old National Chinese Treasure: Bian Lian. In January of 2009, Dan moved to Asia to learn this secretive art form from a Bian Lian Master who chose to train only Chan. After studying day and night for what seemed like a decade hed mastered the 300 second living presentation art.

Bin Liǎn; literally "Face-Changing" is an ancient Chinese dramatic art, where Chan is adorned in brightly colored costumes, moving to quick, dramatic music, while flourishing his arms and headHis vividly colored face (masks) changes miraculously in the blink of an eye over and over again--you must experience Chan to believe these transformations possible.

Witness Chan performing at exclusive Bay Area society and Corporate Events Internationally. Chan is referred to as the Billionaire Magician (having performed for 17 billionaires to date), is often featured at events for Yahoo, Google, George Lucas, John Madden and Hollywoods exclusive Magic Castle. Chan will present and preserve this secret Chinese art form for the rest of his life.

For a video preview check out www.youtube.com/danielgchan or LIVE at the following locations:

" You're the Anthony Robbins of magic, Your are light years ahead of other magicians" - Marc Potter, TV Producer

"Chan is an intense three-ring-circus rolled into one man ... able to transport an audience to a state-of-mind they need so badly - the suspension of disbelief. Chan seamlessly merges sleight-of-mind/hand with extraordinary physical capabilities, connecting his audiences hearts and minds with original displays of magic, illusion, acrobatics and skills which combined - provide an immediate fix, virtually every audience is craving ... compelling, engaging and interactive theater - real MAGIC close-up or on the largest stage. Chan is San Francisco's combination of David Copperfield, Circa Du Soleil and Olympic athlete rolled in to one. Chan's innate ability to enter the emotional tapestry of every spectator is uncanny and many say unparalleled."

For the past ten years Dan has performed for major corporations including Google, Oracle, Intel, IBM, Chevron, Macy's, Nordstroms, Whole Foods Market, SF Giants and literally thousands of other companies around the world. Dan has appeared in front of millions on MTV, CBS, ABC, AFN and KRON 4. Dan has had the pleasure to perform for SF mayor Gavin Newsome, former mayor Willie Brown, George Lucas, and John Madden. In fact, when 187 billionaires (including Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, CEO of Nike, Oprah and countless others) convened in Sun Valley Idaho for Allen and Company's elite annual gathering, they could have chosen anyone to entertain. They choose Dan and his wife Kat the Acrobat. His unique combination of skills featuring magic, juggling, acrobatics, pick pocketing, and dog tricks has garnered multiple performances in Japan , Sun Valley Idaho , Baltimore , Portland , North Carolina , Phoenix , Portland , and most recently the World Famous Magic Castle in Hollywood California . Dan is a graduate of UC Riverside, the San Francisco Circus Center and the Chavez Course in Magic. In 2007, Dan was awarded the title San Jose Magician of the Year.
