Re: David Blaine Interview
I hope he gets his project going. That would be cool to watch magicians perform every night. A show that follows a magician aound the country or on cruise ships, like David Regal or Josh Jay, would be cool. Sidartha was a good read by the way.
Re: David Blaine Interview
I have to ask seriously, does anyone really care how long you can hold your breath or how long you can go without sleeping. I believe most only watch these "Stunts" in hopes the person will fail.
Like when you were a kid going to stcok car races, what everyone really hoped for was an accident !
Don't get me wrong, I used to like David Blaine when he was performing magic, since he decided to go the Circus Sideshow route I do not car for him anymore. Now if he goes back into performing magic exclusively (and maybe smiling occasionally) I will get back on the I Like David Blaine trail.

The effect is the important thing, how you achieve is not !!

At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter why someone watches. The "why" is not the point of the stunt.

Well, despite your disapproval, Blaine seems to be doing fine. Not only has he been one of the most recognized magicians in the world for over a decade now, but he's set for another TV special, just had a full hour devoted to him on Oprah, and dates women who look like this:

And to be honest with you I feel like I've seen more genuine smiles out of David Blaine than I have in Copperfield and Criss Angel combined.

Re: David Blaine Interview
I didn think much of the not-eating stunt in London. However, the breath holding stunt is more interesting to many people because we've all tried to hold our breath and been surprised at how tough it is. 17 minutes? That's amazing to me. Someone's going to use that as a plot device in a movie at some point.
Blaine deserves the praise for this one.

Don't get me wrong, I used to like Ricky Jay when he was doing magic but ever since he started acing, I hate him. Now every time I'm performing, spectators say, "that's great, but have you ever been in a Mamet film?"
Magicians should not be allowed to have side projects.

Just so you know, my disapproval of David Blaine is that he does not do magic anymore, just the stupid stunts. As I stated I did like him when his specials were exclusively magic. If his special is magic, then I will watch (and probably record) it.
As for the smiles, Criss Angel NEVER smiles, he thinks it's beyond him.

The photo of the girl ... so what? You want skinny malnourished chicks in bikinis? They're a dime a dozen. Just go to a beach in California. Better yet, go to a beach in France where they'll be topless.
Blaine's last special had magic in it, and so will this one. Danny Garcia has been with Blaine for quite a while in New York.

Josie Maran malnourished?

(probably not quite safe for work)
If that's malnourished, please send me on a humanitarian mission to the beaches of California. I have a renewable protein source I'd like to introduce to their diet.
The only reason I posted the original pic was to say that it seems like personally and professionally he is doing just fine despite many magicians' protestations.
