Harry Anderson Doing Tricky Bottles

Postby David Acer » November 21st, 2004, 10:50 am

Hi All,

I'm looking for a tape of Harry Anderson doing the Tricky Bottles on Saturday Night Live. It doesn't seem to be on any of their marketed collections, so I'm forced to ask around. I'll be publishing someone's routine for the bottles in the near future and I want to be certain that any precedents for any of his original sequences are properly credited.

If anyone can help me, please e-mail me at davidacer@davidacer.com. I'd be willing to make a trade for any of my marketed books, DVDs or videos, assuming they're of interest.

It seems to me I saw him long ago on a different TV show performing the Tricky Bottles. I may be wrong but I think at the end of the effect he exposed the gaff for a cheap laugh. Also, I think that's where I first heard the line, "I'd rather have this bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotamy".

It WAS on SNL that Harry did "Topsy Turvy Bottles" and exposed the gimmick.

Also the Billy Crystal show back in the early 80's.

Hey Folks,

Thanks to all who were kind enough to reply! A tape is on the way to me as we speak, and... hang on, there's someone at the door.

Okay that wasn't the tape, but if anyone wants digital cable in Montreal, Videotron has a GREAT new deal!
