The Great Carsoni

It was a lousy day yesterday. I was looking forward to the David Regal article in Genii, and the issue didn't arrive. But not that lousy: the mail brought me the huge The Encyclopedia of Egg Magic. As you know from the Kling Klang section in Magicana and from Richard's recommendations, this is a tremendous book that belongs in any magic library. Also cool yesterday was a nice article on Johnny Carson in the June issue of Esquire. Years ago I had the pleasure of seeing Johnny do the linking rings and card fan productions on his tv show. Awesome, but I understand that early footage no longer exists. Re the article, Johnny learned Russian and Swahili for trips to Russia and Africa, and he has footage at home of himself doing magic tricks in Africa, with the patter in Swahili. That would be something to see!
