After years of inactive card handling and not even bothering to do a card spring flourish when playing a game of rummy with my grandmother i decided to get back into my long relationship with card magic and Gambling routines. I started just looking at 'whats new" and i came across a blog by Larry Horayne.... Could someone explain to me what it is all about? full of profanities and pulling apart pretty much every book written on magic?....
Is it purely satirical

Yes, it's satirical.
In the grand scheme of things, it's an utterly unimportant blog, and you will miss nothing by ignoring it.

Just what i thought Roger, its hard to see its purpose in any setting. I was just alarmed and also baffled about the whole thing.

Re: LARRY HORAYNE Blog
Thanks for posting the link. I wasn't aware of Alex Hansford or his card magic before, but his technique, approach to card magic and general outlook on life are wonderful. He'll make some money because I'll purchase his notes, and my mood took a turn for the better.
I would probably have missed that were it not for the LH blog. In the grand scheme of things of course it's unimportant, but it's the lumps and bumps that often make life interesting.

Re: LARRY HORAYNE Blog
It's written in an irreverent, satirical and sometimes happily obscene style, but I wouldn't call the blog satirical in intent. Larry seems to be a pretty dedicated cardman and his comments on card magic and books on card magic I always find worth reading.

I agree with Scott M. I found Alex Hansford's work through Larry, and I'm glad I did. Larry also covers some more obscure stuff, like those Tony Chang notes that are impossible to find. Definitely more offbeat, but worth reading. He seems to have disappeared, though, at least for now.

Re: LARRY HORAYNE Blog
That's a shame. But at least the archives are available.
Any other blogs out there worth a read? My list of bookmarks is pretty short:
Going off topic a little, I think it's great that Jerxmann has decided to charge for his work. Like anything worthwhile, writing a blog without compromising on quality must absorb a huge amount of time and energy, and hopefully others will follow suit rather than stop creating. Lots of good writers seem to have started and finished writing blogs over the last few years.

Little Egypt Magic (Steve Bryant)
Cardopolis (David Britland)

I am on a break from cards - but I used to write a lot about cards over here (under the name cardmagic10):

The blog belongs to a card guy called Kevin Courtney who posts under the name Kevin.

Chris, though it hasn't been updated since 2013, I very much like Nick Pudar's blog entries as well as his Stackview software, which I find quite useful and interesting for work with stacked and/or memorized decks. The site can be found at http://stackview.com/.

Re: LARRY HORAYNE Blog
The Larry Horayne book reviews are often very thorough and worthwhile, despite the blogger's scatalogical obsessions.

Re: LARRY HORAYNE Blog
Action Palm (actionpalm.wordpress.com) is another good one. I wish Tony Chang's Double Facers blog was still up. (Or his lecture at the Magic Session, for that matter.)
Re: LARRY HORAYNE Blog
More a site than a blog, but Magicana.com. (No relation to the Genii column.)
