Gaffed cards

Postby Sebastian B » July 16th, 2016, 11:11 am

Hello!
I have started to make my own gaffed cards. I have been using the information in Expert Card Tetechnique, with varying results. Does anyone know if there is more information of this somewhere?

There are several different DVDs (and booklets?) that have been put out on how to make your own gimmicked cards. The information in Expert Card Technique is out of date. Google "how to make gaffed cards" and you'll find it.

You might find this of use. Don England made a video back in the VHS days showing how he did things. It looks to be available here. Todd Lassen makes a press for using dry-mount tissue to fuse split faces and backs -- his blog may have some useful information.

You might find this instant download from Gary Plants useful. Gary is one of the luminaries in the world of gaffed card creation.

Sebastian B:

I second Bill Mullins recommendation of Lassen's Card Gaffing Genii: http://www.toddlassen.com/misc.htm

This is a worthwhile DVD: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/859

That said, Gary Plants does such good work at an affordable price that he's my go-to guy for card gaffs: http://www.thecardplant.com/

Hi,
Thank you so much for the help. The Gary Plants download was what I was looking for. Erdnasephile: Mr Plants does indeed do great gaffed card work to an affordable price, the ting is that I always have some kind of project to spend some time on when I go on vacation, this year my plan is to spend some time making/learning to make gaffed cards. :)

Erdnasephile linked to a Martini DVD. He also had a set of lecture notes entitled "Lickity Split" that talks about making double facers/backers, double ended cards, and other gaffs that can be made by splitting and glueing up cards. Available here.

The Card Gaffing Genii works very well.

For a better way to stick cards together get one of these:

Or print your gaffed cards outright. No more splitting and gluing necessary. http://www.lybrary.com/how-to-make-your ... -a-11.html

For me, it's a combination of Todd's gaffing genii, and printing via use of Chris's fine materials (paper, "Kutter," and coating).

Depends on what I'm trying to accomplish.

Hi guys,

Thanks again for the help :) With the information from Expert Card Technique and Gary Plants download I have been able to make my own gaffed cards with ok results, so far I have only made double backers and double facers.

All the best
Sebastian
