Re: Received Spam/Fishy PM
Glad you have common sense! I've sent your message off to our developer and hopefully there's a fix.
There has been more spam posted than usual, so it's a difficult matter to create questions for new registrants that aren't easily solvable by the bots that try to register and search Google for answers to questions (if you can believe it).

Re: Received Spam/Fishy PM
@ Richard,
As I use the same exact forums software (phpbb 3.1) you might want to try a different sort of registration security.
I use a two part solution. First, I created a custom profile filed ("Are you a spammer?") which (upon registration) they must change (via dropdown menu) to "No".
In conjunction with that, I use what is called the "sortables" captcha, where you can set up various lists that must be sorted (I have three that pop up randomly) to continue.
Image attachments still seem broken here, so take a look at this link to see what I mean.

The official "sortables" captcha extension and some other fun anti spam stuff can be found here:

Re: Received Spam/Fishy PM
What cut down spam registrations on Magicpedia dramatically was asking a simple question in English like "What is the name of the magazine that is the sponsor this site (use all UPPER case)?"
