I'm pleased that Mr. Joyal resurrected this zombie thread so I can give a progress report.
This summer, I contacted the author of BookCAT and purchased a license. (necessary because the web store was down).
I also found a teenager (living in my home ) that needed money for a special purchase, and who, as a summer project, entered in over 1,300 books.
BookCAT has been a dream, and I finally got everything organized, the teen got some cash, and everyone is very happy!

Bookcat has now been abandoned by its maker, per their website. (As has my beloved Bento.)
