The RSS logo is going to hide behind product logos? Makes sense as other businesses can value-add the formating/login. Also runs a risk of having things like the Nike/CitiGroup Genii Magic Update.

Getting back to "normal"...funny how we have folks into Sherlock Holmes yet miss the parallel to Dawkins argument that our history is written all over us. IMH0 if thine eye offend thee, turn to fiction where the characters see even less ;) .

No, I meant in the same way people do not think "ooh HTTP" when using a browser, or "ooh IMAP" when using email, something is needed that hides the RSS-ness of RSS.

It's too geeky. People are scared if they see the XML file.

Eoin,

The Pixel Qi screen looks very cool. Battery life at 2x -4x a standard screen might be enough for a dedicated reader -- my wife's Kindle can be read for several thousand pages between charges, but if it's close who will care? I didn't see on the website if the e-paper mode draws less power than color.

Guess I'll have to wait for Apple's announcement before buying a Que.

Jonathan,

The iTMS will gladly sell you books. But I'm sure iTunes can be made to download RSS content just as easily as it currently does Podcasts.

Financial columnist Malcolm Berko had his say on the potential for investors making money on the coming "ebook revolution" in my local paper this morning.

Thanks, looks like HTC is a short term winner if you're investing.

A press release from Apple today states that more than 3 billion apps have been downloaded from the App Store in the first 18 months of its existence.

Podcasts *ARE* RSS feeds.

This is exactly the sort of example I meant. The fact it uses RSS to deliver you new podcasts was so hidden people don't even realise it's RSS.

So I was still right, even if I didn't know what I was talking about. ;-) In my own defense I don't subscribe to any Podcasts. But I know they're there.

BTW put me down for the pricing prediction of the Apple iSlate/iTablet/iDon'tcarewhatyoucallit to be the same as the iPhone but $200 higher: $800 to buy outright or much lower with a two-year data-rate plan.

That will all be in the cloud. As soon as mobile speeds improve (4G, wimax) there will be little need for local storage of anything much...

This is how you'll be reading newspapers, magazines, and books in the future (at some point--don't ask me when).

The first one of the links at least looks sexy. The Copia one looks so boxy and ugly in comparison.

I still think leaving out video and colour isn't the way forward.

The killer application to get this tech into the market...

Let's see:
High Res graphics - check
multiple pages of content - check
plastic covered reader - check

Okay, do you think it will be Playboy or Penthouse or a less socially acceptable magazine that jumps on the "wipe when you're done" display?
