June Genii in the mail today, May 6!

Postby Richard Kaufman » May 6th, 2003, 2:34 pm

The June issue of Genii, sporting Rich Bloch doing something very funny to our logo, went in the mail today. This is the issue that contains Duc Nhien's fabulous coin routine and lots of other great stuff.
:)
Look for it to arrive in your mailbox in the next three weeks.

I hope you're right. Starting with the May issue (subscription renewal) I've switched to airmail, precisely because of the long delays that seem to affect the post here. I suspect that some things also get lost. It was better when I lived in Geneva (just across the border), where my Genii used to arrive only about a month "late" by surface post. It may be due to Swiss efficiency, or because I'm now in a bit of backwater of France.

As always this year I made my subscription to our fantastic magazine but this time I made a surface mail one. It is incredible the delay in receiving my copy: just to let you know, the last copy received is Feb issue!!!

Richard,
I received my copy of the June '03 issue of Genii magazine today here in NYC.

So far I've enjoyed the article by Jon Racherbaumber on The Second Deal convention and the Book and Video reviews.

Please keep up the good work!

As I said on another thread, I have not yet received May, so I hope to get June. If not, I'll be quite perplexed as my subscription runs through 2005.

(do you think that the U.S.P.S. has closet magicians, or do they just like plain cash & checks?)

The June issue hit Indiana today. Terrific story by Jon on Rich Bloch. I love stuff that blows me away and changes my perception of people, such as Rich's hockey photo (and the bio info that accompanies it). Why, I wonder, did no one ever elaborate on Vernon's hockey background? (Also in the mail today -- the new Michael Skinner DVDs. Talk about a surfeit of riches.)

Tuesday May 13th in Norfolk, Virginia. Another great issue. I was enlightened by Richard's comments about the changes in the book publishing business, and what we should expect in the future for reprints of our favorite magazines. And I am glad to know that his classic videotapes have moved to DVD, and appreciate his special offer of autographed copies.

June received in Philly yesterday May 12th.

Gave it a quick look, as I'm still reading May's issue. Seems like quality again. Interesting cover!

Issue arrived on the 14th; my cat has already eaten the cover.

Richard, thanks for the hard work bringing us Duc Nhien's coin routine. The JW grip is a sweet subtlety, a nice way to give Malini and Ramsay a much-deserved vacation.

The June Genii arrived in Sun Prairie, WI on May 15th, 2003.

When I first glanced at the cover, I wondered, "Why is there an outline of Illinois on the cover?" It took me several slow seconds to process the image and figure it out. Call me slow, but it was a long day at work.

(This isn't a criticism of the picture: it's cute. Instead, it's a brief look at my cognitive processing.)

Actually, I have one cat that likes to lick the plastic bag and another that chews up the paper (especially magazine cover stock). So Genii is a feast for the eyes, mind, and (if I'm not careful) cats.

Received my copy today. Great issue, though a little disappointed that the Alan Warner article was not in this issue. I guess I will just have to be patient for the July magazine.
