It seems like the May issue hit all the towns within 10 miles of here a week or two ago, but it finally arrived in Burbank, CA on May 8. This is later than usual for me, I usually get within the first few days of the month, and sometimes at the end of the previous month.

I got mine yesterday May 9th - Just got the April Issue May 1st - After Mr Kauffman graciously sent me a copy about 3 days before, I didn't even ask for it.
In my little town the mailcarriers are super lazy and my particular route has no permenant carrier. So I get my mail anytime between 7:00am and as late as 8:00pm with advertisements routinely delivered so late as to make them obsolete upon reciept. When questioned why this happens, their answer is "1st class and priority mail takes precedence and all other bulk mail is delivered at the carriers descretion" - In other words when the carrier for my route looks at the total amount of mail - they can leave fliers, advertisements, and other bulk rate material at the depot if they feel like it will involve more overtime. It's been this way here for about 5 years now since our regular guy quit - no other carrier has "Bid" on our route so it's catch as catch can, it's real nice when I'm waiting for a check or payment.

Well, it's now past mail delivery time on May 10. L&L, Stevens, Mosaic Records, Nordstrom catalogs arrived, but no May Genii. Now I'm getting worried . . .
Adding to what Dave posted above, I can tell you from USPS employment mediations I conduct, there's some scuttlebutt about cutbacks, layoffs, and further privatization of certain functions. Morale isn't so hot in the DC/MD USPS. One could posit that there's linkage between poor morale and decreased productivity, but I digress.
Consider also the recent regulatory activities on postal rates which promise to make life hell for independent magazine publishers, while providing a major advantage to the media giants (i.e. Time Warner). Affected publications from the National Review to Mother Jones are currently petitioning the Postal Board of Governors for relief.
Friends, please know this is NOT a political issue, and if you care to read more, I suggest taking a look at: http://www.alternet.org/mediaculture/51472/

Richard...
Is it time to ship Genii in a plain brown paper wrapper? That would keep the prying eyes from spying what's inside...eh? (wink wink, nudge nudge)
Sorry. Couldn't resist. (Is she a goer? Eh? You know...)

Still haven't gotten the May issue yet. Has everyone gotten theirs, or is it just me?
