A Convention or gathering event

Postby Guest » August 25th, 2001, 8:50 pm

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and this is my first message here.

I am wondering if Genii has any plan on doing a convention or any magic gathering event of its own?
Actually I am in Australia and couldn't make it to the Magic Live! event which was very disappointing with all the big names attending one event.

So just giving my thought on this, if Genii is planning one; wouldn't it be better to have done during a holiday period such as December or June when almost every school and university are on holiday so people like me will be able to go.

I was pretty disappointed about the time clash between the Magic Live and my uni semester.
But I definitely look forward to Genii event is one is planned.

Regards,

Adipoetra

Hi Adipoetra, and welcome to the Forum.
I'll make this announcement officially: I have NO plans to do any sort of Genii convention.
If, for some reason, Genii was to hold a convention, it would probably be limited to 200 people and focus on close-up magic.
Now I will repeat a previous remark I made on this forum: If ANYONE hears me say ANYTHING about throwing a convention, PLEASE hit me on the side of the head with a shovel!

To Adipoetra Halim: To make you feel worse (or maybe not) about missing MAGIC Live, I just posted my notes on the convetion at littleegyptmagic.com. One thing I omitted -- they did a nice slide show retrospective of all the magicians we've lost over the 10 years MAGIC has been around. Nicely done.
