I'm not sure how to call this thread but what I am asking is how this 'trick' is called.
with one hand the cards (the entire deck ) become like a circle.
I see this a lot and I think its quite simple ( but ofcourse difficult to do )
its a fancy way of saying to someone to 'pick a card' .
a circle?

Re: a circle?
I'm glad you got the right answer: it didn't register that you said "one hand"...therefore my answer was dumb.
Re: a circle?
no, your answer was far from dumb mate. It brought me STRAIGHT to the right direction :D
this fan is working a bit, it's not that hard. But I was wondering how Ricky Jay does it.
( searching for the vid )
http://youtube.com/watch?v=UWvRorX0KhQ
at time 00:20 ( i love this vid ) he does something with his left hand. he fans half the deck with just one hand.
It was my goal to get towards this but the pressure fan wont gain me any skill towards this trick ( i belive )
thanks

It's a standard one handed fan. See Card College, Volume 1, pg. 181.

Re: a circle?
The instructions in New Magic of Japan are not going to be very helpful. At the time I wrote the book, I had never seen anyone do this. Subsequently, many Japanese magicians have learned it and it's quite amazing to watch a 360 degree fan made with one hand. There must be a video of it somewhere on YouTube (not the one-hand fan which Ricky and everyone else does, but a true 360).
