Very cryptic, Richard but I hope it means what I'm guessing it does!

Oy! Could I get a new mouse too, while we're at it? This one makes my hand hurt after an hour of constant use.

Okay, the mousepad is out of the bag!

The April issue of Genii is in the mail, with a 29-page cover story on Dr. Hooker's Rising Cards by Jim Steinmeyer.

We also have two contests in the magazine.

The smaller one is to give away four copies of the new Magic Inc. reprint of Marlo's Revolutionary Card Technique books (a big hardcover whopper), kindly donated by Magic Inc.

The BIG contest is from the folks at Creative Magic and involves that mousepad which comes free inside every issue. The grand prize is $5,000 worth of magic swag, and 100 entrants will receive runner-up prizes. Watch the issue for details, then find the postcard inside, peel it off, and send it in!

Hooker's coming? It fills me with dread
For he sits on the foot of my bed;
I don't mind his strange eyes
Nor the cards he makes rise
But for ninety-eight years he's been dead.

John,
Give it until the end of the week. I don't think Richard sends out replacements until after the third week of the month.

Arrived today; another splendid issue. However, what am I going to tell my binder at the end of the year about the mouse-pad? I am sure as hell not going to ask, "What do you sugges I do with this?:

I read Jim's article: no doubt in my mind that this is an epoch-making document regarding Sam Hooker, his Card Rise and his legacy. It's brilliantly written, crystal clear and articulate, with wonderful photographs and drawings.

By now you might guess, however, that I can't just "read" an article about the HCR... Regarding the second part of the article, the description of the routines, I already formed a list of a dozen "hmmms" in my head, things that make me think, put it this way. But I just can't afford the time right now, so I have to put the whole thing on standby for a while.

Here's one big hmmm however:

Page 10, column 2, line 10: RK: "no one has come even remotely close to figuring it out" ....HMMMMMMMMMMM.... ;)
