Re: Welcome Back, Friends ...
Yesterday my member number was 223. Now I am checking on to see what the number I've become to. Just want to know.
Well, I do feel welcome back! :)

Richard - We may have a problem...
I noticed that Chris Aguilar posted an observation that a previous post in this same thread is under a new name. Same has happened to me. I just looked at the Michael Close new book thread - and Mark Jensen's name is displayed instead of Michael Close...
It appears that some (all????) posts are associated with the member number and not the member name. Therefore, as more people register and take over the former registered member numbers, this problem will continue to grow. Is there a solution?

I see this has already been noted in another thread about the glitches...I did not realize the impact until now. Wow

Re: Welcome Back, Friends ...
There's a solution to that problem that's fairly simple in design, but maybe not so simple in implementation. But the crux of the matter is the BBS software links a post's author's user ID (our number) with a name. As the old numbers get reassigned the old posts display the new owner's name.Originally posted by Gordon Springstead:

This raises an interesting issue. If the old number owner had a habit of saying...you know...provocative things, thanks to the miracle of Google searches, these old thoughts may begin to reflect on the new owner's name. Hahahaha. (Sorry. I don't why that slipped out.)
On the other hand, some new owners may get a boost in cred due to a previous owner's Way.

Looks like Brad has it all fixed and I don't think we have to worry about that scenario.Originally posted by John LeBlanc:

No, it's not fixed, as this one example will demonstrate (and there are plenty others):Originally posted by Joe Pecore:

Re: Welcome Back, Friends ...
Brad is slowly working through the process of getting people's numbers and posts "realigned."
We're having a few other problems as well--several people's registrations (second ones) have vanished. So, something is hinky and we're trying to figure it out. I know you'll all be patient. I'm going to take an antacid tablet now.

*Whew* I was starting to withdrawal.
Richard, this is a lot of work to go through to make sure Mark Lewis can never post again.

Re: Welcome Back, Friends ...
I did go look at the Mike Close new book thread yesterday...wonder if that had anything to do with my name being there of if it is just the C word.

Re: Welcome Back, Friends ...
tedski - a few other name swaps - note the impact in the celebrated Erdnase thread:
Craig Chamberlain (formerly Jason England)
Jim Maloney #5 (formerly Matt Field)
I think Richard went to Sam's Club to buy a case of Pepto...
Best Wishes, Gordon

When I saw the Magic Portal momentarily open, I dove through head first like Douglas Fairbanks. When I looked over my shoulder, I could swear I saw Bob Farmer diving in behind me...

RK, have I ever told you how much I think of a guy who can use, "hinky" correctly in a sentence?
Thanks to you and to Brad for your yeoman, herculean work this past week. And thanks to Dustin and Jim for their critical support.
