Re: Respect for Doug Henning

I resurrected this five year-old thread to make a pretty modest point about Doug Henning not appearing in any childrens' magic books that also contain historical tidbits about magicians. I have no familiarity with children's magic books. Is this a single book to which you are referring, or is there...

I took a water jug, cut the hole in the bottom ( 2 hour job) glued a "cork" in the top, nailed that to a board, went to the local playground, poured jugs and jugs of water into the clear water jug, hung upside down with inversion boots, did reverse squats pulling myself up after I couldn't...

I can also say that moving print plates, which at that time were made from lead is logistically almost impossible, because they are very heavy, need two or more people to carry one plate. Moving them from one printing house to another is a logistical nightmare. Two or more people to carry one plate...

Although both are shameful acts, plagiarism of a written work seems even more egregious than the type of plagiarism we sometimes see in the magic community. If you are interested in magic performed with one hand, you might want to get a copy of The Legend of Mac McDonald by C.C. Allen.

There are not a lot of details on the actual handling of the effects in McDonald's repertoire, but it is an interesting book nonetheless.

Why do the same trick eight times in rapid succession? If you think eight is to many, then you might prefer Eric Decamps' Jokers are Wild , which has only six transformations. The definition of a "Wild Card" routine is that you have a single card that is more powerful, hence "wild,&q...
