Re: Hey, We're Reprinting The Vernon Touch!

Would people really pick one side and then rubbish the other? That seems a bit silly. I can't imagine anyone being that pig headed. That said - when I was interested in card tricks - I never liked either of them. Give me Walton, Sadowitz, Elmsley, Trost, Bannon, Aronson, Jordan, Duffie and Kane over...

Re: Looking for Bob Neale trick

I don't know anything about the Bob Neale effect. But the effect in The Minotaur based on Bob Neale's principle goes like this: A playing card (a Jack) has a slit down the center (lengthwise) - it goes from near one end to the other. And on this there are three coloured circle stickers. The other si...

Looking for Bob Neale trick

Looking through The Minotaur I found an interesting topological trick. I am always interested in this sort of thing. The trick is based on a trick called 'Framed' by Bob Neale and apparently appeared in one of his early lecture notes. Does anybody know which set of notes this trick appeared in? Chee...

Re: Vanni Bossi Book Now Available

Now that Penguin Magic own The Hermetic Press I think there will be a greater emphasis on reprinting books and releasing older books as ebooks. So that will affect the future as regards magic collectibles. Also - didn't a bunch of people lose out trying to buy spare copies of The Castle Notebooks as...

Yeah - I think a lot of this "slum" magic is underrated when it comes to ingenuity and creativity. It is a good example of familiarity breeding contempt.

There was a fun thread on this recently:

Finger Chopper - method?

Sorry - this is embarrassing. I had a finger chopper when I was about 7 and have never owned one since. Anyway - I found a nice touch for this prop in an old issue of The Pallbearer's Review. So I purchases a cheap one from China just so I have the prop in future when playing with the routine in the...

Magic seems to appeal more to men than women.

There is only one female creator in magic I really admire.

And she was born a man...

There is one stand-out choice. This is what I have said in the past in response to this question: I am a big fan of 'Impromptu Headline Prediction' by Stan Lobenstern. It can be found on Page 535 of Apocalypse (Volumes 1-5). It couldn't be any easier to do and is very clever. It uses a sneaky scam a...

Now that MAGIC magazine is no more - is it worth bringing back the letters column for GENII? One thing I always liked about MAGIC was the letters column.
