Re: Amazing Geometric Vanish - MAGIC magazine
A relevant video by Mariano. You beat me to it! This has to be one of the best, because you actually seem to be creating something that people want. I love the implication that the whole bowl of extra chocolate squares has been obtained in this way. Another related item by Masao Atsukawa appeared i...

Re: one-handed shuffle
However , one must not automatically assume it was a riffle shuffle! I have found what I believe to be Green's method ripped off by Hugard with no credit (all too common) in an early Card Manipulations booklet. It is what we would consider a one-hand Overhand Shuffle. The one-handed shuffles in &qu...

Re: one-handed shuffle
The article in Hugard's Magic Monthly describes two one-handed shuffles - the One-Handed Riffle and the One-Handed Overhand Shuffle. They are credited to Howard de Courcy, though he didn't claim originality. "A now-ubiquitous one-handed riffle shuffle and bridge procedure, meanwhile, was publis...

Re: Edwin T. Sachs and Angelo J. Lewis . . .
Is there any evidence that Edwin O. was involved in magic? The attribution of "Sleight of Hand" to him is clearly erroneous. The places he is mentioned in Hopkins's book only describe his writings on theater architecture, and don't indicate any particular interest in magic. "Involved...

Re: Edwin T. Sachs and Angelo J. Lewis . . .
It’s strange that two people with such similar names (Edwin O. and Edwin T.) were involved in magic around the same time, and possibly would be even stranger if they had been related. The confusion surrounding the publication date is also surprising. How is it that we can't rely on the date given in...

Another deck suspension (rather than levitation, though the effect is quite similar) is Dan Harlan's Auto Suspension from Minotaur magazine. Also Angelo Carbone's Humbug is a very clever idea.

Re: Book for a Year – Secret Agenda by Roberto Giobbi
I'm thinking it goes back to the late 1800s, at least. Conradi's "Der moderne Kartenknstler" (1896) has a trick called "Die neue Eckkarte" (The New Corner Card) using a small black fabric or metal cover over the corner of a card for a torn and restored effect. The version with a...

It's not "most famous", but perhaps "The Great Rufus Steele" in "The Last Word on Cards"? The only requirement is that the deck or packet has to have 20-29 cards and the spelled name must have 18 or 19 letters.
