Re: Pretty Woman Magician

Pretty sure from memory that was George Schindler of New York/SAM Fame in the opening sequence of Pretty Woman. I'm sure someone here will verify if I am remembering correctly.

Re: Need to produce an executive...

I've produced many people, speakers, executives, etc over the years using The Mummy Roll switch illusion. You just need to make a "sheet" approximatly 8 feet tall by 12 feet wide. But you need a stage with a wing, side curtain, or a performing area with a door or place to switch from the s...

Re: Need A Quote From Dunninger Book....

Hello Ray, The story you mention is in the first few pages of Volume one from The Tarbell Course in Magic. However, upon looking again at it after reading your post, I did not find any explanation of the type of snake used. I did try to find the quote in Dunnigers Encyc of Magic, but I unfortuantely...

I love Emerson and West packet tricks, especially color monte, i keep it in the car wherever i go "just in case". Two of my favorite "packet" tricks tho are not E&W, but were designed and routined by Doc Daugherty of Pittsburgh, PA (not the DD of the Wash DC area) Ever hear o...

Re: DEL RAY'S PASSING

The World of Magic has lost one it's greatest conjurors. Del Ray was without a doubt a living legend for most of his life. Anyone who witnessed his magic can attest to that. Del was a master of weaving intricate, complicated, technically advanced illusion technology with the skill, stage presence, a...

Re: The Trick I Hate Most is....

I agree Peter. In fact, along the lines of the Square Circle, Circus Illusionist Travis Green used to perform a musical pantomime character routine named "Mysto the Magician" some 20 years ago. Prob still performing it today. It was a hilarious 7 min routine based around a stage sized Squa...

Re: The Trick I Hate Most is....

Tricks and Props are not good nor bad. Magic is not, in and of itself, art. Performers are good or bad. And it is up to each audience member to decide for themself whether or not what they watched was art, assuming they would even care to label it. Just do your best guys, and use what you have insid...

Re: Improving Magic Conventions

In the late 1980's, as a teenage-magic-buff-run-amok, I loved attending the convention organized by Joe Lefler in Cleveland called "The Cleveland Magic Conclave" I believe. It WAS held at a community college. The lectures WERE held in great steep lecture halls, as were the close-up shows. ...

Yes, I perform Amusement Parks. That particular engagement was Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh, PA. Hope it helps. If you do find a different material or a soft brush, please let me know, I'd be interested too.

Re: Brushes for Stretcher Illusion

I would advise against the brushes if you have never tried them. I performed a stretcher that used the bruses for a run of 500 shows a few years back, and those bruses were MURDER on my assistant's neck. They literally hurt when she performed it. So much so, we had to radically change the costuming ...

Re: Impaled

Does anyone else here remember David Copperfield's ORIGINAL presentation for the impaled with the girl on the sword before the self-inflicted version he did on his television special. I've had this conversation with Doc Dixon a number of times and we both agree it was the best version of the Impaled...

Re: Del Ray?

Del Ray...All I can say is wow. I had the awesome, humbling pleasure of being asked to open up for Del Ray in 1995 in Youngstown. He was performing his entire stage act for a public banquet show for IBM Ring 2....the IBM Ring that Del always considered "his home" ring, from what I understa...
