Re: F/S Whit Haydn's Teleportation Device

Regarding the Teleportation Device, I have the materials on hand to build three more, without having to order anything else. I will take orders up until June 1, or until I have received three orders, whichever comes first, after which I will not accept any more orders until further notice.

Re: F/S Whit Haydn's Teleportation Device

I'm going to have to stop making these, at least for the near future. Anyone who's planning on having me build you one, please contact me within the next two weeks (In other words, by June 1, 2010)so I can figure out what materials I need to complete them. After that, I won't be taking any more orde...

F/S Whit Haydn's Teleportation Device

With Whit's permission , I have been making these on a limited basis. I make these as I receive orders. It takes me about one to two weeks to build one. (depending on how backed up I am, as well as a few logistic factors) No two I build will be precisely identical. You will have a unique prop, diff...

Re: JAM AUCTIONS

This may have been mentioned before in this thread, but I didn't want to read through six pages of posts to find out. Don Driver has a DVD set out of a live Jam Auction featuring Jack Nyberg.
Whit Haydn and Chef Anton have this set available on their "School for Scoundrels" site.

Re: Allan Ackerman's "Expert at the Card Table" DVD+ Sale on His Website

I received my "swag package" from Houdini Magic yesterday, and couldn't be more delighted. Really a wonderful package of premiums, and more than enough to keep me occupied until the DVD set arrives. Harvey Rosenthal started a separate thread for condolences to Mr. Munari and his family. I'...

Re: Allan Ackerman's "Expert at the Card Table" DVD+ Sale on His Website

All you have to do is call the company and ask when the product will be shipped. Richard, That's certainly true, however, while I waited on hold this morning for 10 minutes in an attempt to do exactly that, only to get a call from my real job which made me have to drop off without an answer, it occ...

Re: want to show your trick?

Instead of searching for tricks to learn on line, I'd suggest finding a good book and learning from it. There are a lot of great magic books aimed at the "absolute beginner". Depending on your specific interests i.e. Closeup, platform, large illusions, etc., there are lots of books out the...

Kamal wrote:I don't know if it's a sign, but my credit card was charged by Houdini's last week.

Mine was charged two days after I preordered, and that was 2 months ago.
It would be nice to get an email update, or even a posting on an open forum, just to maintain a "comfort level"

Re: Allan Ackerman's "Expert at the Card Table" DVD+ Sale on His Website

I pre-ordered mine from Houdini Magic quite a while ago (same package deal) Has there been any update on when it will ship? Two months ago they said the second half of July, but that ship has sailed. Someone on The Magic Cafe quoted Allan Ackerman as saying sometime in August, but there's been no co...

Re: The Professor

Without being hopefully too much of a self-promoter, I suggest that many of you might find my recent biography of Vernon to be helpful. You will learn that he was a professional magician, who influenced him, when and how, discover that Scarne basically copied MacDougall in the field of the card che...

Re: The Professor

IMHO the notion of conjurers having this as an issue rather than exploring it to find where or how it effected the magic is sad. Art has to come from somewhere. Knowing where is part of respecting the artist. Trivializing the where or the how seems disrespectful to both the artist and their work. O...

How fortunate we are, that those among us who are perfect are willing to take the time and trouble to judge the rest of us, who, like the Professor, may in some ways fall short of the mark.

Re: Stars of Magic (Photo quality)

David, I had never seen this performed until I saw it on Johnny Thompson's "Commercial Classics" video, and I agree, it's really astounding. If you can find a venue where smoking is allowed, it'd be just as strong today as it ever was.

Re: The value of Garcia's sponge ball encyclopedia

I think it may be, at least in part, due to the tremendous affection so many of us had for Frank Garcia, and the general scarcity of most of his books. I believe most of his books were self-published, which begs the question, who owns the copyright? I assume it would be his family. Doesn't it seem l...

Re: Houdini Still Isn't Dead

OK. Best exhumation story I know: In 1900, to satisfy the clamor of persistent conspiracy theorists, Abraham Lincoln's only surviving son (I can't remember which one, possibly Robert) allowed his father's body to be exhumed, to prove that it was indeed The Great Emancipator interred in the grave. Wh...

Re: Dan Harlan Arrested

This story haunts me like a ghost from the past. It's been nearly 17 years since I took a drink, but I can vividly remember those futile attempts to reconstruct the events that happened during a blackout.
My best wishes go out to Dan Harlan. I hope he can get past this.
