Bill was a true gentleman, a wonderful performer, a caring magic teacher, and a good friend. His magic legacy will be all the SYM performers he mentored. Magic has lost a class act today. My condolences to his family, too.

Won't 2014 be a year for regional FISM competitions again? If it is, I would think it would be at the combined convention.

Re: Bob Elliott Has Died

Bob was a wonderful magician and friend. I loved listening to his stories (especially the one when he drove Darwin and David back from a magic convention) and jokes and watching him perform - especially his presentation of the egg bag. He was always generous about teaching me any sleight, trick, or ...

If my memory serves me well, this performance took place at a Tannen's Jubillee. I believe this was one of two performances that afternoon. As I recall, during the night before, Del was rumored to have had a slight heart attack while performing his stage act (he was not able to finish it). Everybody...

Allen was a good friend of Lee Noble, another great magical entertainer, and occasionally they would attend magic conventions together. I also remember seeing Allen in an Off-Broadway show as one of the leading four characters; he was really good!

Well said.

One of my favorite memories of Lenny was when he teamed up with Ed Levy to run the IBM Labs in Manhattan. These two were not only the best teachers you could imagine - breadth and depth - they were the funniest magical teaching duo you could ever imagine.

Yes, NYC will miss Lenny.

Re: Banned from Blackpool for my "Safety"

If this commission "kickback" is true, I wonder if it will apply for acts booked by them (and I assume the hosting FISM organization does book the event's talent) for FISM 2012. Another issue for Eric Eswin to address, I guess.

Re: Banned from Blackpool for my "Safety"

The problem is that no other country offered to host the next FISM.

The question is under what circumstances should a hosting country's banning policy force FISM to actively search for a new hosting venue.

In light of these postings, I think we should all contact our FISM ambassadors and ask that FISM conduct an investigation into these past FISM bans (see Tom Stone's earlier thread) and the past bans at Blackpool and how they may affect the upcoming FISM. The ethics of a FISM host organization should...

The close-up show at the last FISM in Stockholm was also held in an inappropriate facility - a huge untiered room. Such a venue is a diservice to the close-up performer and the audience. In no way does this type of theatical management elevate the art of magic which FISM professes to do. The excuse ...
