Re: Magic of Japan

Charles,
I am not sure, but is the trick that you perform by Shimomura actually his trick or his concept. What I mean is, did you take his idea and turn it into what you performed or is that all created by Shimomura.

Re: Magic of Japan

I believe the following effects are printed as follows: Metamorph-Rose New Magic of Japan by Kaufman Human Cannonball Genii Magazine Volume 83 Number 5 (May 15, 2000) Band on the Run Trap Door Magazine by Steve Beam For both the Shimomura trick and the Futagawa trick, I am pretty sure they are both ...

Re: SAWA Magic Library Vol. 1

I purchased the Genii Archive and I took a look at that quite a while ago. It really is a great issue. I also have Steven's Magic Emporiums video on him which is terrific. It seems like a great idea...Has anyone tried Sawa's Sawap principle? If so, I know it isn't the most practical thing, but it se...

Re: SAWA Magic Library Vol. 1

Richard, with the recent interest in Japanese magic, thus Sawa's material, is there any chance that Sawa's Library 1 could be republished. Obviously, I wouldn't expect it to be soon because I know you are producing some other books at the moment, and you are reprinting some other books as well, but ...

Re: SPECIAL PRE-PUB PRICES FOR JAPANESE MAGIC BOOK REPRINTS

I believe I saw some at Magic Land a few months ago. I didn't realize they were the "right stuff" at the time though. Also, if this deserves to be edited by all means go for it: Can anyone help me though with NEMP. I can never take off the cellophane of the card box, it always breaks off. ...

Re: Masao Atsukawas 'Fabric Through Pasteboard' from 5x5 Magic of Japan

I have had this same problem, and to my knowledge, the specific gimmick Atsukawa describes is one of the many things that are only in Japan. I agree though that it is a pain to come up with a makeshift gimmick. If you find anything out, tell me! :D

Re: Is it legal?

So basically Ellusionist does not have any right shutting down peoples' Youtube accounts for exposing their "wonderful tricks?"

In some cases I don't mind this law, but I agree this law is BS.

Is it legal?

I know that there has always been issues over whether or not you can copyright a trick/idea, but I just recently saw someone trying to sell a rendition of BOXBACK by Tomo Maeda on ebay. Not only was the performance sloppy, but the price was about 10 bucks for a crappy video tutorial! If I find the l...

Re: How To Make A Card Jumbo

Charles has friends who have been in magic for years, or who live in Japan and can easily get these things. With that said, Charles is able to get a lot of the things he wants with relative ease.

Re: How To Make A Card Jumbo

A lot of the material that Charles gets is from Japanese material. He has many friends who speak Japanese who help translate the material.

Re: Tenyo items in performance

From my other posts, I am sure people have noticed my love with Japanese magic. I own quite a few Tenyo effects that are absolutely ingenious; however, am I the only person that has noticed that the "plastic" look of the objects take away from the seriousness of the effect? Like I own Blue...

Re: 5x5 Japan PDF being sold on eBay

It's honestly sad that people auction off such a great book for 9 bucks. About 6 months ago, at the beginning of this revival, I simply called Kaufman and Co. and they had New Magic of Japan and Five Times Five just lying around. I got them for 35 bucks a piece!
