Re: The Session Convention 2014

Hi Edwin,

I'm glad you've found the posts useful. It really is a great convention and because it is smaller than other events, you're able to be more sociable. I look forward to meeting you there next year ;).

All the best,

Marty

Re: The Session Convention 2014

Yes, I think you're right. The main reason I've written these posts is to remind myself of what I saw at the convention. I also did this for a few friends who couldn't make it to the convention this year. I'm glad some people are reading the articles and are finding them useful. Part 15 is now live ...

Re: Tenyo for Girls

the issue is deeper than colors and kittens. Hey Brad, I'm certainly not disagreeing with you. The under-representation of women in magic, especially close-up, is a complex problem and is not going to be solved by simply making more tricks pink. However, I do think this is part of the solution. Eve...

Re: Tenyo for Girls

I have nothing against pink - but it's not a color which makes someone want to engage with magic. No, but it does help get tricks into the hands of young girls, especially if you're like my 2 year old niece and obsessed with anything pink. The simple fact of the matter is that the blue and pink ais...

Re: ERDNASE

I'm afraid I don't have any additional information on the man himself, but I have started studying Erdnase's book in detail, and I'm posting my thoughts on my blog. You can read all of my Erdnase related posts on one page here: http://www.magiconthebrain.com/tag/exploring-erdnase/ Marty P.S. Here's ...

Re: A new Magical way to hand out your business card

For those interested, here are two videos of the apps at work: BizCard Demo Card Now Demo Now, I would not describe Card Now as a "total rip off". After all, permission was granted by Carl Andrews before the app was released. However, it isn't original. If I had a smart phone I'd use Card ...

Re: Daley Dilemma!

Hi Jeff, I like Drop Dead Queens a lot. It genuinely adds something to the plot. Was this trick in your book The King Has Left the Building...With Amnesia (the hard copy version)? I seem to remember reading it in there, but maybe I'm just confused! The pickpocketing ideas makes for a great presentat...

Re: Daley Dilemma!

The final part of my analysis is now live. I've also added a novel version of Daley's trick to the free tricks area of my blog. This trick has been designed to address all of the issues I've mentioned in the four articles.

Read Daley Dilemma (Part 4)

Re: Daley Dilemma!

Hi El Mystico, Well, you may be right, I don't have any hard empirical evidence to suggest these problems are significant. But I do not think these are false problems. In my experience, most spectators will not tell you if they suspect something, you have to ask them directly. Obviously you wouldn't...

Re: Daley Dilemma!

Yes, on occasion I've performed it as a pure transformation as you suggest. However, I've found I get better results presenting it as a scam a la Three Card Monte (the original write-up seems to point the reader in this direction). Maybe this style just suits me better? This trick is great for deck ...

Daley Dilemma!

I've been blogging about the good Doctor's most famous trick. Re: The really odd things one finds on the Cafe

Apologies Richard. I should have let this lie. The fact that everyone else was letting these nasty comments go without notice was irritating me. I certainly wasn't trying to start a flame war.

Yeah, I was expecting this kind of childish response. Still, when someone acts like a jerk I think it is important to point it out and let them know that such behaviour is sad and a little pathetic.

Re: The really odd things one finds on the Cafe

Hi Damian, Your posts ridiculing Vlad (who isn't even the subject of this thread) are very mean-spirited. Sure, Vlad's posts a a little long, but then you don't have to read them. Now saying he isn't posting at the cafe much now because two people on another forum called him stupid. Er, yeah. You've...

Re: A New Monte Trick with DVD

Disclaimer: This is pure guesswork on my part! This looks similar, if not identical in method, to Eric Jone's Twizted gimmick (stupid name, great gimmick).

Re: A few questions about digital access

Thanks for the quick reply Richard. This is very good news; I should have looked a little more carefully for the 2010 archive!

This kind of service is top notch, I wish more publishers would follow your lead.

Many thanks,

A few questions about digital access

The digital edition of Genii is great and the main reason I decided to re-subscribe. Storage of the physical magazines was a burden, so I'm very pleased you're now offering digital copies to all subscribers (especially us international ones). A BIG thank you for doing this! I have a few questions: W...
