Re: FISM Day 5

Who knows what the hell Juan Mayoral was thinking. I've heard all kinds of second-hand reports. But if I were a pro and someone wanted to put my little act on TV, it sounds like a GOOD DEAL even if I don't get paid. Think of the exposure that you would never otherwise get? Not to discount this thou...

Re: Coin Board

In addition to the Macy's gig Dan Tsukalis used to do the fair circuit. My fisrt "professional" tricks came from him at the Danbury (CT) State Fair and the Eastern States Expo (MA). Every year I would watch him for hours before deciding what my one trick would be. Years later I met him at ...

Re: YOUR Input Needed for Genii Convention

I like the idea of the winning numbers being posted somewhere to pick up the prizes (registration?) so people do not have to be present. The dealer room idea is a nice addition but should be a perk for those that purchase something not a punishment for those that don't so it would be best to separat...

Re: Magic set for kids...

The Ryan Oakes sets are put out by Marshall Brodien. I thought the lunch box set was very creative. The lunch thermos was a Lota Vase and the lunchbox was some kind of production box.

Re: Real Secrets Weber Bonus and Email

I have supported RS thru the first year because they gave a quality product at a fair price but this might just drive me away. The product I paid for included printed instructions. It was a stretch when they stopped sending instructions and made me print them up myself. Now I can only print the main...

Re: Who is renewing Real Secrets?

I enjoy the child-like surprise of getting something every month. Like Marco said it's all re-hashing of old principles but I enjoy the way their take on things stimulate my creative juices. Even on months when the item is "not me" the process and re-dressing is inspiring and helps me in m...

Re: Wonderball

Sadly the only thing more uncomfortable than watching Jonathan perform without Charolette....

is watching Charolette perform without Jonathan.

They are both trying to re-invent themselves whic is never easy. It's a painful process to watch but I hope that something good comes of it for everyone.

Re: Genii Magazine

Re: The BIG DOUBLE 75th Anniversary Issue of Genii is On its Way to YOU

Phew...finally finished. Liek a gourmet meal it needed to be savored and digested slowly. Max Mavens article was amazing. His contribution are always a joy to read and this was no exception. As to my favorite tricks...wow so hard to choose. The one that spoke to me was "Tokkuri and Rope". ...

Re: Fascinating recount of 75 years of Genii

Just finished it today. There is probably no one in magic that could have done a better job with the countless details that are woven into this article. The only thing I did not see (or missed) in discusing the evolotion in the Kaufman years of the maggazine was the steady use of physical extras pac...

Re: Flash Contests Coming SOON on The Genii Forum

I'm pretty sure the Uri we met at the Genii Bash would not only sign it but sit down and break bread with Randi. I doubt if the feeling is mutual but that would be the lecture to end all lectures...a sit down/debate between them.

Re: Christmas

I've done it a half dozen times and it's very powerful in the right environment. Club meeting, private party, basically a more intimate place where people are able to sit and give you their full attention. I don't think it would work in say, a restaurant walk-around situation without coming up with ...

Orlando in Monday's mail---I had to help the Mrs carry it from the mailbox. Goodie bag--Genii Bash--double issue. An amazing way to finish of the 75th year. Proud to be a subscriber for life! Congrats to the small but mighty Genii team.

Re: ATTENTION Real Secrets Members Attending the Genii Bash!

So I'm walking around the pre-bash dealers room tonight and a guy comes up points to my Real Secrets badge says hope you'll be joining us for the party, hands me a DVD and walks off. It happened so quickly I wouldn't be able to describe him nor did I read his name badge. I have a brand new Big Blind...

I had an issue with the post office damaging my RS #4. When I emailed RS they not only replied in less than 12 hours they shippped out a replacement package priority mail. They may be mysterious but have given excellent service so far to me. As to #4 a great re-working of an old principle. I re-work...

Re: Hank Lee

I just read thru this thread in one sitting and was surprised that what I feel an important issue didn't get mentioned until page 13. Tim and Richard kinda indirectly hit on it...to me the bigger issue in all this is the effect on the magic community. People reading the story and using it to justify...

Jay Sankey's "Mute" December 2011

I was really struck by this concept and wrote a script that I think takes it to the next level. Re: The Last Magic Masters Store Closes

I haven't read this anywhere yet...thanks Richard. I was tempted last week to get one of their logo pins when I saw it there and passed. Re: Rick Lax Dumps on Criss Angel's New Magic Set

I've read a lot of negative reviews from magician's about this set too. I guess they can't seperate their feelings for the man from the product. I came at the end of the Adams kit and the begining of the TV Magic kits and this is EASILY superior to both. Quality products, good price, detailed instru...

Re: September Issue of Genii In the Mail! Have you Received your Copy?

Got mine the 18th in Orlando. A lot of high points this go round. Loved the Jamy Ian Swiss "play by play" report...it was a facinating read. Always happy when Al Cohen has some memories to share. The Steinmeyer and Burger pieces were top notch too. Man I haven't even got to the tricks yet....

Re: No more Sands of the Desert?

Like Steve said this almost seems a staple in the toy store. It seems about every 5-7 years it is DISCOVERED by the toy companies. I haven't seen or tried this new item but remember the last version a few years back was Sponge Bob themed and worked fine.
