For me it would have to be "given the Slip in Vernon chronicles #3. I't quick, clean and visual, with a certain elegance. Its only real drawback is that it is head on only.

One advantage I find to the table approach is that it allows the use of a cervante. A cervante not only greatly facilitates ditches, but can also aid, in productions by keeping the items to be produced close at hand until the last possible moment. A table might also be useful for introducing magnets...
