Re: Rudy Coby is back

The first trick you bought was the Newsweek Production. Did a good job of it too. I still have a few news photos from the Magician of the Year contests. I am tracking down some videos too. The old club still meets in Cornwall, ny. I also hear from some of the people you knew as well. Jerry Bronner (...

Re: Rudy Coby is back

Haven't had a shop in Middletown since the 90's, ran by family. I have been in Florida since 88' doing shows and lectures.
One of the last times I saw Rudy, I think I had tied him up with rope one night and he ran out of the shop and down the road at midnight still tied.

Hey Rudy, Magic Ian here! It's been how long?? How about a comment. -------Ian 1)Oh, and what trick did we used to do together when you were 12? 2) Remember the first trick you bought from me at the shop? Arte Severtsen

Has anyone seen Art Severtsen aka Mr. peabody's magic. Arty was very clever but had a slightly demented viewpoint on magic. We calaborated on a few tricks in the 80's, but I haven't seen him in over ten years. Any clues contact magicians@aol.com or Ian@stagetricks.com

Re: Your View: ebooks or printed books?

I find e-books cumbersome, but the value is there. 1/10th of the price. I have been having a lot of success, however selling e-tricks. I have several effects which use readily available magic and I sell the access to the web page with the instruction. The one e-book with the highest response was the...

Re: Any advice on making flap/acro cards?

Dam gimmick setups... If you need to do entire card surfaces, stretch the dam and secure it in an embroidery frame (like a drum clamp). This will hold an entire piece of dam slightly stretch and taught. Wash the powder off the dam surface with water, or alcohol swab, then use very thin layer of cont...

Re: Zombie

My favorite method is using the 2-finger zombie flash gimmick and vanishing the ball in a servante before the flash goes off. Available from most dealers, Theater effects, or e-mail me (I have one in stock). Zombie to flowers is cool as well. You ditch the gimmick, retain the ball only, then split i...

Re: ruffing (roughing?) fluid

You can imitate the effects of roughing fluid on any single card instantly and impromptly using a simple method described in my book "best Dam Tricks" 1980 (also in current editions "Rubber penetration tricks"). Cut a 1/4" to 1/2" piece of washed rubber dam (powder remo...
