Nobody seems to of mentioned Mary Tofts, from Godalming, Surrey, U.K, who in 1726 gained fame, by claiming she had given birth to a litter of Rabbits. It was about this time, that the magical production of a Rabbit is first recorded, but the exact details of the performer are unknown. <!-- m --><a c...

Re: Stamp Album Effect

That's exactly what i said. I identified the age of the book for him. I seem to think that every dealer made version of this effect that i have come across, has been constructed from a soft back album, and that the usually have a pocket in the book to house the stamps.

you know,i have much respect for the guy. So many manipulators over the years have smothered the stage in tons of crap, taken their bows, and left the mess for the stage hands to deal with. Re: Houdini Broadway musical announced for 2013-14

I was reading about this yesterday. It should be good, in that the leading man has the right presence about him to play a convincing magician...heck, he did ok in Prestiege. Re: Need help with gimmick production/design but trust no one.

I saw an advert for a device that rolls cards in the last week or so.
Cant remember where. you could always try a long split cotter pin.
shove the card in the split, and turn.

I would use thinner cards too.Manipulation cards , for example dont have teh thick core, and will roll up easy.

Neither...although those techniques can be used alongside the main premmise of this excelent routine.
The method disclosed, is exactly as used by many of the mediums out there, and involves no trickery, just clear and consice performance, and audience management skills.

To me, this is not only unethical, but It's very Lazy magic. If you can't be bothered to learn how to do the electric chairs properly, you dont really have any business dealing with spectators.

Long time supporter of the magic arts, and for many the face of Houdini, Actor Tony Curtis, has died. just checked, and it's not listed in his show from 1933.
But, it is shown on the cover of his pitch book, complete with the Buzz saw. so i think it's something introduced after 1933.
but only just, as Goldin died in 1939.

Paul? :) Well,in this case it wouldn't work, since this particular routine is Ripper based.Paul does point out that you Dont have to be in white chapel in order to hold a ripper seance, since if it were to exist, the spirit world is everywhere. but the methods given could be adapted for any themes.
