Re: riffle stacking

Sorry, I meant Ortiz's "At The Card Table" specifically the routine "Fast Shuffle". You could always type (riffle stacking) into Denis Behr's database.

Re: riffle stacking

I vote for Fulve's "Setting Up Exercises" as a good starting point. I would then check out "Cardshark" for a couple of routines to try. I also like a couple of the stacking routines in Swain's "21st Century Card Magic" I don't see the point of not looking at your hands ...

Re: Lennart Green on TED

I loved his warmup bit with the wrist turn explanation. Is that an old vaudeville gag?

Re: Come to Connecticut for NEMCON , March 14th 2009

The hotel even has an elevator! I can't believe the Holiday Inn where we used to have it didn't have one.

Come to Connecticut for NEMCON , March 14th 2009

It's never to early to get the word out. We've set the lineup and date for NEMCON 28. We are moving to a new hotel about 10 minutes north of the previous venue. Re: Revelation has landed

Just wanted to say that Revelation has reached the East Coast. I just looked through it briefly and it is one beautiful book. Great job to all involved.

Now I've got to buy one of Regal's playing card auctions so I have enough decks to get through the book.

Re: Slydini's Elusive Four

Charlie wasn't too happy about that being the routine put on the DVD. It isn't a routine of Slydini's, it belongs to a barber in California.

Re: Small Brief Seconds

In Rounders he was dealing from the bottom when he was caught. He wasn't dealing seconds. I guess I have too much free time on my hands.....

Re: Question: Close-up Pad; Coin Box

Most of the close-up I perform is walk around so I don't use a mat. I don't use a coin box performing for laypersons either.

Re: John Calvert at NEMCON Feb 22nd.

Well is anyone who reads the forum going to NEMCON? How could you resist a day in beautiful North Haven, Connecticut? Lord knows all of us on the east coast have had plenty of time to practice the last couple of days. We should be finely tuned magic machines by now.

John Calvert at NEMCON Feb 22nd.

I had the chance to meet Mr. Calvert last year when he lectured at our club. You won't want to miss the chance to see him perform and lecture. He is a living legend and will perform for one hour to close the evening show. NEMCON, North Haven, CT. New England Magicians' Conference, the best and bigge...

Re: Eagerly Awaiting

Expectations are an individual feeling towards something. Just because I didn't think that the book was what I had hoped for, doesn't mean Jon didn't do the best he could with what he had to work with. If I hadn't seen the Stevens video before I read the book I'm sure I would have felt differently. ...

Eagerly Awaiting

Just like plenty of my fellow magicians I am awaiting the arrival of the latest book by John Carney. Due to the expectation that this is a wonderful book, I was wondering what book were you really waiting to be released and then that book feel short of your expectations? I guess the question is what...

Re: Skinners Spider Grip Vanish

Richard, Thanks for the input on this subject. It's nice to know that sleights that are almost a hundred years old still are in use. Thats why the classics will never die.

Re: Skinners Spider Grip Vanish

Richard, Thanks for the reply! How come I've never seen it credited to Gibson? Did Mike Skinner come up with it on his own not knowing about the Gibson sleight? It seems in this day and age that crediting stirs the pot with magicians. I wonder how concerned people were with crediting the proper sour...

Skinners Spider Grip Vanish

Howdy, I was recentley looking through The Phoenix issue number 52 and came across the "Free" French Drop contributed by Walter Gibson. This sleight seems the same as Skinners Spider Grip move, at least in theory. In the Phoenix it states that "Walter Gibson dug this one out of a dust...

What would you do?

Hello everyone. I attented a wedding yesterday and it was moving along as expected. That is until I looked out the window onto the deck and noticed one of the guests doing card tricks.
