Re: Big News from MAGIC Magazine and Stan Allen

Even though I wasn't a MAGIC subscriber, I did subscribe to MAGIC Legacy and am sorry it won't be coming to fruition. And I'm not trying to second guess, but it's clear now that this kind of campaign perhaps would have been better on Kickstarter, where you could see the amount needed and there could...

Re: Stephen Minch - Hermetic Press - Closed?

I found this thread over at the Cafe which discusses this too: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?forum=110&topic=616355#7 . Totally understandable that Stephen would hand things over to Penguin. (I've ordered from them for years and have always had good experiences, by the way.) I...

Re: Stephen Minch - Hermetic Press - Closed?

Hermetic Press was sold to Penguin Magic. Minch continues to write books, and these will be published and marketed through Penguin. I had read that, but I'm surprised to see the site gone as there's nowhere on the Penguin site that the books are grouped together. Yes, you can search for them indivi...

Wow, that was fast.

Well, I'll take a moment as well to say thanks to Andi. I thought he did an excellent job. The tricks were always interesting, and I could feel his personal touch and interest in the column's overall identity.

Look forward to hearing who the new editor is.

Re: Penn & Teller: Fool Us - Season 2

As Ristiharju mentioned, the effect is taught on Josh's Unreal DVD set. I just spoke with Josh, who has been a friend of mine since he was 8 years old. He stated that his method doesn't involve an index or pre-show work. Well, then, to paraphrase Penn, there's only one explanation... I was fooled. ...

Re: Penn & Teller: Fool Us - Season 2

Just watched Josh Jay's routine, which was very well done, as expected. When he started it, I was surprised. I love John Lovick's "I Dream of Mindreading," which is what he was doing, and I was surprised that he'd pick that trick to try and fool Penn and Teller. The first part of the routi...

Missing the same issues as well on an iPad as well as laptop. Also, if this is a thread to post requests for restored content... I've been hoping that the final pages of August, 2000 (from 71 on), get reloaded. They show up empty for me. I was gifted a copy of "The James File" and I'd love...

Interesting.

I downloaded the latest update to the iOS app and the offline problem is still there. Bill, I'm leaning more to your theory because the percentage counter quickly races up to 100%; it's clear that that material is not being downloaded.

Scott, I just realized that you can set the number of issues that will be retained by the iPad. Tap the issues button on the bottom. Tap the settings tab on the top of the new window that opens. Overall, the whole Penguin lecture thing is very good. And, yes, if there are at least two people out of the coming five you'd like to see, the $50 monthly pass is worth it. I've done this several times, the result being that I have a ton of unviewed ones on my hard drive. The thing is, the Penguin ...
