Re: Question for Richard re: Standard Notation for Card Mag

Tom Jorgenson described a shorthand system in his manuscript, "Shaman". It's available for $2.25 on Lulu: http://www.lulu.com/shop/tom-jorgenson/ ... 45378.html . (I have no vested interest.)

Re: Greatest magic books ever written

I tackled a "list" on my magicmatters blog... You can find it here: http://magicmatters.com/?p=174 . You mentioned the Rice Silk books as being one of two sets in a handwritten font. What's the other? There's also "Some Manuscriptricks", an interesting handwritten booklet by Hol...

Re: offline access on the iPad app

Here's what I find curious: I'm having the same problems as others have described here... But only with recent issues. No problems with the Alex Elmsley and Billy McComb issues from several years back.

The Piddingtons

NPR's Radiolab has a great story about the Piddingtons this week. "You Are The Judge" features their grandson Jesse Cox, with additional comments by Jim Steinmeyer.

Re: Aldo Colombini Suffers Catastrophic Stroke

Sad news. I learned my first "real" card magic from Aldo's columns in Magigram, when he was still using Fabian as his stage name.

Re: NEW FORUM: Post your problems/issues here

The old system had an RSS feed which allowed me to see new posts in Google Reader. Is there a similar feature in the new forum system?

Thanks,

Re: John Archer - Supply Teacher

Translation: "Supply teacher" = "Substitute teacher"; "Still" = "Season 2".

The program is aimed at young kids. John Archer and others do magic while posing as substitute teachers.

Re: Bill Wisch's "Slydini-The Lecture" U.S. Tour 2012

I saw Bill Wisch give his Slydini lecture when he visited Ray Goulet's Magic Art Studio last April. Mr Wisch was a student of Slydini, and the tricks he showed were excellent. Even better were his fascinating recollections and stories of the master. There was one moment in the lecture that sent shiv...

Re: [censored] Book!

Andrew is goading and being deliberately incendiary. I don't know about the rest of you, but I think gratuitous insults like these are really uncool and not to be condoned.

Re: David Pogue

"...people that love magic, but who are better recognized for their pursuits outside of magic."

I'd love to hear from Carl Kasell, who until recently read the news on NPR's "Morning Edition" and is now the judge on "Wait Wait - Don't Tell Me!"

Re: Ordering from Bob Cassidy

Bob's stuff is always great and he's been extremely generous in his personal email exchanges with me. There's no doubt that he sometimes seems to disappear for months at a time; when orders and emails aren't promptly responded to. But check the magic bulletin boards: He always comes through in the e...

Re: Cataloging Your Collection

I'm another satisfied BookCat user. I started using it a few years ago and quickly settled on a general categorization scheme that works for me. I use the Keywords on an as-needed basis. I don't have the time or interest to compulsively annotate every book with all of the keywords that might apply. ...
