Re: Cellini

I learned to clog in the '60s when my brothers were in a bluegrass band.
Now I work as a roving magician at festivals in the southeast, often in character as a traveling medicine showman. I often throw in a few steps and kicks...draws a crowd and makes people smile.

Re: Don Knotts Passed Away

Nick,
Thanks for posting. I am a big Don Knotts fan. He created an absurd character and injected enough humanness to make it believable. He was a genius with details.
Hope you get to that walking trail soon!
All the best,

Re: Hanging out in Bristol, VA/TN

Jeff--Best of luck with everything in Bristol this weekend. Sounds like an excellent lineup. If any of your attendees are traveling home through Wytheville, VA on Sunday, June 26th, I invite them to stop by the Chautauqua Festival. I am performing {roving)in the park. Wytheville is about an hour fro...

Re: multiple cards to pocket

The late George Vaughn did a first class rendition...ten cards, I think. They traveled one at a time from a packet in his hands to a pocket. I do not know if his version is published or recorded. George performed full time out of Raleigh, NC during the 70's and 80's, and ran the Magic Corner for a w...

Re: Frank Everhart, Jr

I lived in the Keys several years ago (Marathon). I don't remember a magic bar being there. When did Frank's open? Any idea where it is in Key West?
I may get down there this winter, and will try to look it up.

Re: Bowl of water production-- which one is this?

I may be wrong but I seem to remember a bowl (w/water) production from a mechanical table...described in Wonderful Routines of Magic by Ellison Poland (the first of two books). I lent the book to someone twenty years ago or I would look it up.

Re: Mickey Silver's Coin Retention Vanish (Silver's Ultimate Vanish)

I have seen the Demo DVD and want to say thank you to Mickey for sharing this work. WOW again! MSD921 says it well... I think that what really sets his vanish apart is the PERFECT coordination of SO many moves and subtleties. Mickey's work is more than one move, or two moves. It is a smooth combinat...

Re: Visible Card Changes?

Glad to be reminded of the Jose De La Torre color change routine. I saw him lecture years ago, and that routine was unbelievable. I checked and I found the routine in his book, Real Magic . It was really one of the most magical things I've ever seen. In the same book, was a color change by Steve Dus...

Re: Close-up opening effect

In Secrets and Mysteries for the Close-Up Entertainer, Eugene Burger discusses an opening sponge ball routine. Included are some really good thoughts about the opening scenario. You might also check out the Magic Menu (Jim Sisti) for a variety of approaches to openers.

Another mention for Magic With Cards by Frank Garcia and George Schindler. There are many good effects. A lot of bang for the buck.

Help/ Tony Giorgio story

I am hoping to track down a story that I suspect originated in the Giorgio Letters in Genii. The story involves a scam in which the mob arranged for marked decks of playing cards to be distributed through retail outlets in one city. The distribution was followed by on onslaught of visiting gamblers ...

digital camera

I am interested in buying a digital camera to get video for promotional use. Any ideas on a good camera choice. Most shots would be outside, street performance situations. Thanks for any input.
