I'm a little disappointed about not having actual access to 'all back issues'. To be more specific I'm wanting to look at the section on the Orange slow-mo effect used in 'The Illusionist' Movie. if anyone can help with this it would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Matthew Matthew Instead of comp...

Re: are there any books and dvds on how to make illusions

You might want to check the illusions section of the Mark Wilson Course. If memory serves, all are easy to build.

Re: Smoothini on AGT

What I saw was a polished performer who has performed in the real world for real people. It was a very well executed set. Yes, it was fast but the conditions dictate it. The performance also had punch which the conditions also dictate as one needs to get and hold the audience and judges attention - ...

Re: New Genii Website Up and New Digital July Edition Live

I was able to log in with Safari 7.0.4 with no problems. The main page displayed the last 7 issues with additional years available through the Search.

Looking forward to the iOS app next week. Excellent start!

Re: Copentro

Sadly, his best-ever showcase was within Laurel & Hardy's worst-ever film. Anyone here have suggestions about seeing him in a better light on film? I knew someone who kinda knew him and, unfortunately, was not very complimentary. Dante is featured on two DVDs from Miracle Factory. He has two sp...

Re: The Magic of Alan Wakeling

Greed perhaps but if they didn't believe that someone somewhere would pay, they would be priced differently. There is plenty of fault on both sides of the transaction. A potential buyer has to take some level of responsibility to research the value and availability of any product. Reacting and purch...

Re: The Linking Finger Ring Project

I concur with Nick Lewin's assessment. The Linking Finger Ring Project is an amazing package. I can only imagine the conversations David had with his vendor to create the rings.

Thank you David!

Past Issues Digital Files

How long will the links to digital content in past issues be active? I am referring to the links to videos and audio files attached to a column or feature.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Christ The Magician?

The idea of Jesus as a magician has been around for about 30 years. Biblical scholar, Morton Smith, published Jesus the Magician: Charlatan or Son of God? in 1978. It is well worth reading but if you do, seek out the original, unabridged edition.

Patrick Martin Feature

I have not finished the entire feature yet, but I wanted to post my gratitude for the focus on Patrick and his work. He is a wonderful magician and human. I had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours talking to him about his work at the Legends of Magic Conference in 2001. It was one of the high...

Re: Magician And Cardsharp Review

Has anyone else read it? I found it to be a good read that kept my interest. There were segments when I thought, would a person who wasn't interested in magic and/or gambling stay with it? Mr. Johnson did some incredible research. One of my concerns was that Johnson would paint a glowing picture of ...

Re: Have you met any great characters in magic???

Nick has already mentioned Jim Swoger and Tabman spoke of Kozak. Both are two of my favorite characters. Did anyone notice that they both are from the Pittsburgh area?

I would like to add Kenny Woodward, Jr. - a fine magician, performer, inventor, and human.

Re: information overload

This isn't a new phenomena as Gregory Bateson talked about in his work, Steps To An Ecology of Mind in the early 70's. The mind naturally "eliminates" data from the flow. The argument is that the mind would be overwhelmed if it took in all of the stimulus... Something to think about :) ~ F...

Re: Rick Johnsson

Rick had a wonderful column in the Linking Ring for years in the 70-80's until his untimely death. I seem to remember Phil Wilmarth was going to publish an anthology of the columns, but it never came to light. Rick also published a few sets of notes. Usually in bizarre colors to discourage photocopi...

Ken,

Like Chaucer, I have had success with Testors.

One word of advice - its better to put on multiple light coats and allowing the cards to dry when applying it.

Eugene's Book List

Just as an FYI - the book, Death and Resurrection Show, that Eugene mentioned in his recent article is currently fetching $150 to $300 second hand.

It would be best not to store it in the bathroom :)
