Re: Final weekend to buy these books...really! No, really!

I just got word that I will be starting work on Wednesday (I thought I wouldn't start until a week from tomorrow), so I won't be able to ship any books after Tuesday (or, at least, it will become a lot harder). Because of this, I have to say no to money orders. Paypal only at this point. I know that...

Starting next week, I once again join the ranks of the gainfully employed. That makes this the absolutely, final weekend to buy the books and videos I have listed for sale. Monday, I'll be turning off the doc sharing and deleting the lists. I must say I am mystified by what has sold and what ...

At this point, nearly every viewpoint has been covered, but here's my 2 cents FWIW. I don't think a review is, or has ever been, about "buy this," or "don't buy this." A well-written review is one that not only explains why the reviewer did not like a book or DVD, but one that al...

I used to worry a lot about hecklers, and I used to have problems with hecklers. A funny thing happened though: the better I got, the less heckling I encountered. The little that I still do encounter is easily managed. I seldom feel threatened in those situations anymore. If someone is completely un...

Re: Mystery novels with a magic theme

Many detective fiction writers use misdirection worthy of a magician to keep readers surprised (and hopefully entertained). Agatha Christie took to this to its logical extreme, especially in the Poirot mysteries. Many of her books feature red herrings; the mystery writer's equivalent of a sucker tri...

Crimsonking,

Since you are speaking English as a second language, I should warn you that Jonathan is being a little facetious here because he doesn't like finger flingers (or flickers). I suspect that the author of the book you are reading feels the same way.

It's one of the major tells when learning a classic pass That may be, but I don't think that is what it means in this context. "Finger-flinging" is often used to mean the same thing as "finger-flicking," which means some who likes to use difficult or virtuoso sleight-of-hand whe...
