Re: Eugene Burger: The Last Lesson
I haven't been here on the forum in quite awhile--years, actually. I stumbled onto this thread and the link to Dr. Rosenkranz's article by accident a few days ago. It's brilliant. Thanks for the link, Ted; and thanks to Dr. Rosenkranz for a great remembrance. Before my dad passed about three years a...

Haven't been on here in awhile, but I got on this morning to do a search for Tabman Wands. Alas, when I went to tabmantables.com (the site for the company that had been making the wands), I saw a notice that its proprietor, Ray, had died. It looks like Ray's daughter is looking for somebody to buy t...

Re: Hank Lee's to Close
There surely does seem to be a lot of denial in Hank's statement. As I've received those weekly email newsletters recently, which sound as though everything is normal, I've wondered why there was so little talk about the cataclysmic mistake Hank made. I'd agree that it's probably not the best idea t...

Dude, chill out! RK didn't imply anything at all with his response, other than stating one rather obvious reason Hank might be asking for that data. You can simply choose not to participate. That would solve your problem. I take it you were still able to get the book you ordered? You didn't have to ...

Actually, Denny & Lee's is in the east-NORTHEAST suburbs of Baltimore. That is to say, it's on the far side of Baltimore from DC. It's worth the trip, but it's not close. I live right outside the Beltway in Virginia, and it's a 65-mile drive for me. (I just made the long drive back from a lectur...

Randy Wakeman's Expert Card to Wallet is my favorite Balducci/Kaps type. Very low profile, very nice looking. I know most guys don't use jacket-pocket wallets in real life, but there seems to be something about the fact that the wallet is located in what feels like the "middle of the picture fr...

Charlie Caper is a fantastic performer. I've loved each of the three routines of his I've seen. He has trademark call-back bits (bow tie, for example) that unify everything he does.
It's inspiring to watch him. His act looks like him and him alone.

I have to admit that my reaction was the same as Dustin's when I saw it. The one-sentence description of what happens in the two acts is exactly what Dustin said. Now, it's quite possible that Lasse Flygare came up with it first and that Martinez ripped it off. So shame on her, if that's the case. B...

Second, if I put it out for free that doesn't mean I am not getting anything in return. Having other magicians possibly use the material or, even better, work on and improve it is a far greater reward for me than a few dollars made from selling it. Not everything in life is about money. It's not just Jonathan's MP3 file that's bad. Mine, too, is missing several minutes of audio at the spot Dodd asked Steve about whether he was a pro or an amateur. (I presume everybody's sound file has the same gap.)

Not quite, Hank Stuever. But close.
Guess Hank was too far away from the television to actually see the bit. Vanished the Oscar and balanced a coin on his chin?

I think in this day of free long distance in cell phone and landline phone plans, the cost of an 800 number is hard to justify.
I'm with Dan: if somebody won't use a couple of their cell phone minutes to call you, they will not pay what you have to charge.

Good Lord. I never use the publisher's quotes about a book to make a decision as to whether to buy it.
I read reviews by disinterested third-parties. I have always ASSUMED it was the publisher's job to talk up a book.
Why is this discussion still going on?

Hank Lee sells various card gaffs, including a deck of assorted gaffs.
Once, when I ordered such a deck from him and it didn't have something I needed (blank face, double-back, something like that), I emailed him and he sent me a few of what I needed gratis.
