I agree your sentiments regarding Herb and David. Superb article although I do not need encouragement to buy the book for both interest and use.

Thank you for the link to the Rembrandt painting. Not an OT statement because Rembrandt is "Magic"!

Re: LePaul Notebook on exhibit

Richard Thank you very, very much for this link. Fascinating, especially to a Le Paul fan--no pun intended, I used to perform a routine of all Le Paul effects, for magic clubs (without explanations) as well as lay people. Wonder if someone can transcribe? I have an official printing of a Le Paul lec...

I met Basil Horwitz several times when he was in London, mostly at Ken Brooke's and got the impression (no pun intended), quite strongly, that he (Basil) had the clients, would be asked to perform for them and did it for free because he felt that after talking thousands, maybe millions, it would be ...

The book I have was published and copyrighted by Paul Diamond in 1971. In the Introduction Allan A. writes that All of the effects here were originated March 4, 1970December 22, 1970 (except one) . So it looks as if this hardback was the first edition published. Maybe the author did print up more di...

This is a fascinating thread. I agree with Pete about the Carazini story. The Goshman anecdotes are great, too, especially for me and the other fortunate ones who knew him. My story is not personal but told me by my father who never did anything in magic yet was very keen on it (e.g.bought the Golds...

Card chosen, returned, apparently lost in deck. Magician takes out a card-it's wrong then changes it to the correct one. IMHO a change is far stronger than a find. Examples of effects: Hot Card Trick (Leech), I've got a surprise for you (Fechter). While I am posting, Pete, please change your calenda...

Red Bank was also the birthplace of Count Basie. I am not going off topic because another jazzman, Sammy Rimington (Brtish trad. clarinettist) is very good at card magic, I read. The late Ronnie Scott, club owner, tenor sax. player and racontuer, also had a repertoire of card effects.
