Re: Impressions of IBM/SAM 2014

Relative to the temperature of the hotel, I found it comfortable. However, I could see how it might be too cool for those attendees who dressed as though they were going to a picnic on a hot summer day. As a long time convention goer, I find the modern tee-shirt and shorts attire of some a little bi...

Re: Is

I can't testify too much about the impact of Dingle's Sympathetic Clubs, but I have performed it as a stand-up piece several times. Back in the 1970s I bought a jumbo-card version of the trick, complete with houlettes. A very nice effect that seemed to be well received.

Re: Real Secrets Just Gave More Secrets Away

I love Real Secrets, but regarding this latest change I went through all the required gyrations (I thought) and still have nothing in my vault. There has to be a simpler way. I'm sure I've missed material I've paid for. Admittedly, I'm not facile with computer programs.

Re: Switching Decks with Giobbi

I'm over halfway through the book and think it's great. I knew it would be as I was fortunate enough to have attended Giobbi's lecture at the Genii Bash. Something that occurred to me after looking over the references at the end of the book, is why there are no references to the deck switches of Sim...

I assume this has nothing to do with Gazzo's letter. So Tamariz had no real evidence for his supposition?

Re: ERDNASE

Good to hear from you Richard. Some of those reasons are why I was so surprised to read the statement in Giobbi's book.

Joe, thanks for the information. Would you share some of his evidence for such a claim?

Re: ERDNASE

While reading Roberto Giobbi's book "Confidences" I encountered the following sentence:One of the hotest theories I've recently heard is one by Jaun Tamariz, who believes l'Homme Masque (1835-1913), Peru's Jose Antenor de Gago y Zavala, was Erdnase, or at least behind part if not all of th...

Re: We're Back From the Genii Bash!

Best convention I ever attended, hands down. So many great moments. Rod Zabrecky was certainly one. Christian Engblom's close-up show performance was a highlight. David Ben's lecture on the coin magic of Ross Bertram was a personal favorite. The way the convention was organized and run--Margaret's a...

Re: The Columbus Magi-Fest is No More

Very sad. The first magic convention I ever attended as a registrant was the Twenty-Fourth Annual Magi-Fest in February, 1955. What an experience for a young boy! To this day whenever I experience a bone-chilling gray winter day, perhaps with a few snow flurries, I think, What perfect weather for a ...

I have a complete set all the way through issue 14. It was a struggle to get them from Jeff. For a while you had to buy from him in order to get the magazine. It had some good quality magic however.
