Effects for those who believe in spiritism

I am in Brazil and I happen to meet people who really believe in spiritism (Kardec) or voodoo and this kind of things. I would like to present a couple of effects about this lines only to tell them later on that are just tricks and see their reactions. Unhappily I have nothing of this kind in my rep...

Rather than gaffed cards I would include cards with an antique look, useful in many effects and not that easy to come by.

Re: ERDNASE

Does someone know why only 50 drawings out of the 101 appearing in the EATCT have a copyright notice under them? I think the reason is the cost of the copyright. If this were the case it would be very interesting because the copyrighted images could be regarded as a clue to the sleights that Erdnase...

Well, I chose this nick exactly because Count Edmond de Grisy started Robert-Houdin to magic!

Robert-Houdin books

Somebody knows the title of the two-volume set on magic that Robert-Houdin received by mistake instead of the two-volume set of books on clockmaking that he was willing to buy? Thank you.

Re: ERDNASE

I am following this discussion about Erdnase and there is something I want to emphasize though I'm not a great student of the matter: everyone says that the real Erdnase definitely wanted to hide his identity and for this reason he resorted to various clever stratagems, but then the most popular the...

David Lederman

David Lederman was one of the earliest experts in micromagic. He carried a 45-minute closeup magic act in his pocket. See magicpedia: http://www.geniimagazine.com/magicpedia/David_Lederman Now I would like to know if someone can describe this close up act from the pocket or at least recall the effec...

absolutely right on answers over questions. I once did a q and a for a very friendly group. I had never felt comfortable doing that type of routine but knew I had nothing to lose. After a few readings I tried to move on and they protested, they wanted more. I claimed it was too hard to determine th...

Medium's Table

In the middle of the last century a table was developed to help mediums to learn what a spectator wrote on a plain sheet of paper while set against the tabletop. Robert Nelson briefly described it in one of his many books, I read it many years ago, but now I do not find it. Can anyone help me to tra...

Gary Kurtz coins across

I recall that more than twenty years ago Gary Kurtz showed me, before one of his conferences, a coin across routine that was oustanding, very clever, without suspicious moves, very fluid and visual. I do not recall if it was done with 3 or 4 coins, but I am quite sure that one of the coins passed fr...

Re: Card magic anthology

That is what I meant. If such a book does not exist someone should write it: to me it would be both fun and aducational as it would represent a reference and a solid foundation for further research.
Someone knows if there is a site on the internet listing the classic effects of card magic?

Re: Card magic anthology

Of course I own many of your books (and Giobbi masterwork), but to me none of them can be considered an anthology of CLASSIC effects with cards. They can be considered antologies, but in the sense that they are a mix of original effects, variations on classic effects, moves etc. by different authors.

Card magic anthology

I would like to know if there is a source of classic effects with cards, maybe with history/origin along with method, because I am tired to read twists and variations when the original is not described. I only know the dvd serie by Michael Ammar, but I would prefer a printed source. Thank you, Roberto

I would consider the eleven card trick (Paul Harris) or the Homing Card (Fred Kaps)
