Re: Ammar's Fab Fruit Available Again!

The trouble with the other faux fruit I've seen is the lack of weight. The Ammar fruit that I have has just the right heft.

Do the Japanese products have the same weight as real fruit? If so, it sounds like they'd be worth looking into.

The Deluxe Set of Scripting Magic 1 & 2 arrived yesterday--just gorgeous. They have something I've not seen before: an elastic strap bound into the back cover of the book to keep the book closed and to hold the bonus worksheets.

Ammar's Fab Fruit Available Again!

I have always liked Michael Ammar's Fab Fruit. I have set and really like them for practicing without the hassle of real fruit (Has anyone ever forgotten real fruit in your close-up case? Yuck!) Unfortunately, they have been unavailable for years and have commanded crazy prices on on-line, if you co...

Re: Storing Magic Periodicals

Question: when bookbinders bind magazines, do they remove the staples out of the magazine then bind them? Or do they just chop off the spine of each magazine and glue (or sew) them in?

Re: Coin(s) through Transparent Silk References Please

I found the routine being referenced; however, I discovered the silk is used mostly to hide some devious moves and as a method to highlight the beautiful climax of the trick. There is no penetration of the silk by the coins.

Re: Coin(s) through Transparent Silk References Please

Many years ago at Fechter's, I saw John Carney perform an elegant routine with coins and a transparent silk. I don't recall if it was his routine. If it was his routine, I don't know if he ever published it. John, can you refresh my foggy memory? Probably the one in the Book (and Video) of Secrets?...

With the Piedrahita and McCabe books on the horizon, 2017 looks decidedly stronger for books. I own Less is More, and I greatly respect it for what it is: a chronicle of one man's dedication, skill, thought, scholarship, and dare I say, obsession with a single plot. (I view this much like Valentine'...

Re: Coin(s) through Transparent Silk References Please

You know, performing for a larger group, where people might not be able to see how many coins are inside the silk, would motivate removing the coins from inside the silk each time, as you do in the Ammar routine, but not the Powers. Use coins dollar sized, or bigger, make full use of sound, and emp...

Thanks! His book just arrived at my house, so I'll be sure to look those up. I still think "Fickle Nickel" is still remarkablly brilliant after all these years.

I hope to see him one day at a convention. Sad that the copyists drove him out of the market.
