Re: Mike Close Resigns as Editor of M-U-M magazine

So sorry to hear this. I thought the Close's and their team really did a great job--I consistently looked forward to reading MUM, and they ushered in some great columns and features. (For example, I loved the Denny Haney series.) They've laid a very strong foundation for future success of the magazi...

Thank you-- full (to the point) presentation then!

Yeah, that was weird. I always took it to mean that perhaps there was a Dingle DVD in the works.

Also, has anybody put all of David Copperfields tv specials on dvd or Blu-ray yet? Authorized DVD's of Mr. Copperfield's television specials have never been legally released. The only authorized DVD I know of some of this material can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/David-Copperfield-Illusion/...

That kind of session sounds like a very rewarding experience, Q! On a related note, the tricks I do all have scripts (Thanks, Mr McCabe!) that are geared towards laypeople. In a session, I'd likely default to those presentations, as it's hard for me to just go through the moves without the presentat...

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I plan to be quiet, watch and learn more than talk (which is my nature anyway), but if I somehow end up performing something I'll know better how to handle this. [I'm going be like Mr. Close and work on a couple of couple of magician-killers just in case ;) )

Convention Session Etiquette?

I really wanted to the Genii Convention this year, but am unable to get off. (Boo!) Instead, I'll be going to: http://ring129workshop.com/ which purportedly has a lot of informal sessioning. Although I used to hang out with other magicians when I was younger, I haven't had any magic buddies since hi...

I was longtime haunter of ebay for cups. I can't recall the years, but at some point when magic interest started to be on an upswing, so did prices on cups. In those days you could see who was bidding for what and it was always the same 3-4 people bidding. Paul Fox cups became very popular. I bough...

The Chief Genii mentioned that incident in the Spring 1985 issue of Richard's Almanac . Lyons must have felt a bit bad about that because he contacted the Chief Genii afterwards. In the following issue of the Almanac , the Chief writes: Regarding the anecdote I related last issue about P.H. Lyons d...

The Unmasking of Bill Malone

I just wanted to comment on this article in the latest Genii (July, 2017). When considering the sub-optimally named "Too Perfect Theory" in practical terms, for me, it largely comes down to conviction. (Close, Ortiz, and Racherbaumer have written better than I can on this point) That is: does the amount of conviction (made possible by the method) support the leve...
