I just received the January 2021 issue yesterday. No February or March issues yet!

Re: Impromptu Coin Magic
Take a look at Gerald Deutch's Perverse Magic thread here on this forum. One example is the Progressive Coin Production. It uses borrowed quarters, which by the way will be your coins of choice if doing true impromptu coin work without your usual coins.

Re: Blackface
While admittedly offensive in today's world, were these magicians considered offensive in their time? If not then I'm not sure why it's "cringe inducing". If these were done in the present time of course they would be offensive. But if they weren't at that time, then I'm not sure. Anyone k...

Apply some clear PTFE tape to one side of each split chip. No one can see it but the chips will separate easily. Available at Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/CS-Hyde-Optically-Silicone-Adhesive/dp/B000REI90W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1546753346&sr=8-1&keywords=cs+hyde+clear+ptfe+tape Jim

There is also "The Master of Misdirection" by D. Angelo Ferri (aka Dennis Barlotta).
The book is all on Slydini and is written by a long-time student of his. I believe it is only available as an ebook.

And I watch the DVDs and/or online videos once, then again while taking detailed notes. Then I use the notes to write up my own "written instructions". Just give me written instructions to start; adding a video or two certainly won't hurt as supplements, but I do wish that written instruct...

Re: Cardtoon - magic exposure
Sad to say, but as soon as someone puts their magic knowledge on the market for sale, it is exposed for all time. And there is no way around that. Just perform your magic well and entertain the heck out of your audiences and that is about the best you can do. But you're not going to stop the exposur...

"Steve Dusheck's Thumb Tip Magic" has mostly uncommon uses of thumb tips. Buy about a gross of them 'cause you'll be cutting a lot of them up.

I thought I deleted that. How were you able to access it? For the record that little idea comes from an old Sphinx idea but resurrected in "The Magician's Handbook by Robert Parrish". It does make the move twice as deceptive. I think you should keep the left hand still rather than move it...

Yes, there has been at least one other posting here about Jon's story, which is both inspiring and sad at the same time. I don’t know if you have ever seen Jon perform but he is quite good in my opinion. I've seen him perform some impromptu close-up magic, and I also saw him do a show for some kids ...

It's not a vanish... It's a simple false transfer. If you perform just that move as a vanish you're not doing anyone any good. Like any False Transfer it should be done as naturally and inconspicuously as possible so as to not draw attention to it. The vanish is what happens AFTER the false transfer...

You probably have, but since I was logging in to the Windows PC version using a Password Manager I didn't realize I was logging in (successfully) with my Ask Alexander username instead. On the Android I had to actually look it up in LastPass and only then noticed that it was filling in the username!...

Re: New Genii Website Up and New Digital July Edition Live
I just tried the Android app earlier today. Besides the search problem and general slowness already mentioned, I noticed that you must use your email and not the username you created for Ask Alexander. Doesn’t tell you that; it just doesn’t accept the username.
Thank you.

Re: New Genii Website Up and New Digital July Edition Live
All seems OK for me using Firefox on a Windows 7x64 box. However I am not seeing some issues. E.g., I see all of 2013 and 2014, but then nothing going back until 1950. Then I see all of the 1950 and prior issues.
How do I get to the issues from 1951 through 2012?
Thank you.
