Re: Lawyers specializing in the public domain?

Anything prior to 1923 is public domain.
You can do searches online back to a certain year, for the rest you have to go to the copyright office and do the search in person.

I don't know how many times we have to repeat this, but tricks are ideas and they cannot be copyrighted. Only the written, photographed, or videoed expression of the trick may be copyrighted. So, there is no copyright to own in order to make a trick. A company might say they own the "rights&quo...

Re: Voronin what a wonderful comedy act!

The issue with the bra trick is not that it shows a bra, but that it is embarrassing to the female volunteer. Ditto for the version with panties. There are times when I know the trick will go over well. I had a friend who was one act in a drag show. You knew it was going to be a crazy crowd. So I su...

The one time I went to Glasgow Roy was not at the shop!

I later met him in 1997, I think, when we both were awarded fellowships at the AMA Awards Banquet. We were seated together and did a few things under the table. He was extremely modest and BOY OH BOY was he incredibly good with cards.

How odd. MAGIC is no longer showing up on my browser either.

The issues of MAGIC are all there in the App. Go to the three dots in the black bar at the bottom right. Tap that. At the top you will see a drop down menu to chose either Genii or MAGIC.

Re: The Future of Magic Collectibles?

Here's what it will look like: packed in crates and boxes in an offsite facility, seen by no one. Museums can only afford to keep a tiny percentage of their holdings of fine art on display, so what do you think would happen with magic? At least with David's museum, a visit can sometimes be arranged....

Re: The Future of Magic Collectibles?

David has not "hoarded an inconceivable amount of unique items." He does not "hoard." "Inconceivable" means that the amount cannot be counted or understood, which is false. Plenty of people go to David's museum. David is far from the only person with a large collection ...

That sounds good, Dominic. I hope we can get a copy for review in Genii.
