None of those issues exist when publishing books now. You send pdfs of the pages to the printer.

Rescreening photos is not something that can be done automatically for the best result: it requires a lot of experience.

Re: Stars of Magic

An original glossy photo has to be turned into a series of dots in order to be printed. This is called a grayscale half-tone. There are different levels of screening, from lesser amounts of dots (for newspapers) to higher amounts of dots (for books and magazines printed on a glossy enamel stock). Th...

Sorry: the Robbins reprints are terrible. The photos were not rescreened.
The original Tannen's edition is still the best.

I wonder if they'll add my name to Gary Ouellet's book on the Pass, since he stole my Half a Jiggle Pass and printed it without my permission after he begged me to teach it to him while I was in Toronto working on the Project Magic book with David Copperfield. Two different topics here. 1. I have all my books individually shrink-wrapped. There is a specific reason for this: when a stack of books is in the carton going from the printer to the fulfillment warehouse, the books will shift slightly and scuff the djs. If that box is then sent (for example) to M...

The routine in "On the Up and Up" alllows you to do a Rising Card routine with three freely chosen cards. The third comes up back toward audience and then visibly turns around. It looks exactly like a routine with a gimmicked deck, except you can borrow the deck. Hostler: why wouldn't peop...

Look through the Genii archive online for the issue which has Milt on the cover--it was in the last 10 years (Steve Bryant wrote the article). It's easy to scroll through the thumbnails of the covers and you'll find it in two minutes or so.
