Goldblum does the Jardine Ellis wineglass production somewhere in the movie ‘Nashville’ and does some classic rope knot magic here on Conan’s show - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oomsGN3Iqm8

Re: What are your favourite tricks from Roberto Giobbi's Card College 1 & 2?
I like The Lucky Coin from Card College 1 because it has a one-two punch and the spectator seems to find their own card, plus it has irresistible (mis)direction for a Top Change. It lends itself to easy customization; I've done it with a mini card fastened under a card box and once under a small toy...

An older thread but a newish answer: erase the roughness from a 1.5" circle in the middle of each card back. Wallahh: practically push-button magic.

Jonathan, I don't know but probably should, and would like to. Just know that Henry Hay in Handbook wrote that it was at least a century old at that time, 1950. Presentation: For Red and Black Aces I have no presentation (which some people may consider IS a presentation) (which I may consider IS idi...

Re: Proper Use of the Pass
One proper use of the Classic Pass is where it does a lot of heavy lifting and has no efficient substitute, as far as I know. That is 'Red and Black Aces' from The Amateur Magician's Handbook. The routine requires a fast good Pass (except once where you might use a slow bad one) during good audience...

JP brass cups are heavy, easily tarnished by performance (not necessarily a minus), and almost as ungimmicked-appearing as 'magic cups' can seem. Three JP chop cups are another way to go, maybe with eBay's help.

I think any big production would indeed be a nice finish. You would be giving the audience some material goods (at least, to look at) to complement the mind games of the other magic effects.

Re: Being Sunk by a (False) Transfer
Maybe I was a bit off-topic. Okay, to address the false transfer action itself: motivating it is of course very important to help the audience accept it, or better, ignore it. My experience is that many magicians don't motivate the transfer nearly early enough for the audience to anticipate, and in ...

Geoff lectured for IBM Ring 194 early this month and went over big time. Dryly funny presentational style. Showed a bunch of easily-made trickery that quickly resets. Very commercial magic for walkaround and platform. Highly recommended lecture!

In 1995 a version of it appeared in John Riggs' book "The Man With $1.98 Hands". It was called 'Mr. Jimmy' and included cute, horrific, and intimate variations using tiny feet and other props.

Mark, try "Man in the Moon", an old Supreme effect. It's visually simple and direct, and great for point-and-shout reactions. Also, make an 11 x 17" (or larger) version of a flip book, photocopying some clip art and text.
