I believe in both of those effects, after the twisting phase, the cards change. I believe the principle, originated by Roger Smith, was the fact that one of the cards originally used in the twisting phase was also a changed card. Sincethe other cards had changed, that fact it was originally previous...

If you look around at certain magic shops, they may have one or two left. I know I've seen'em. The book really contains some great stuff, and was a joy reading (and still IS!)
